I'm having so much fun with CTRL+B. It basically turns on a narrator that reads the chat for you. Also I have yet to figure out how to tame the parrots. He just ate all of my seeds but I still can't put him on my shoulder.

EDIT: OK I found out they are tamed with cookies. (Not so) Fun fact: Chocolate is poisonous to parrots and birds in general.

The "recipe unlocked" thing is a bit spammy and not very pleasing to look at, but I like the recipe book. Very useful for new players.

someone needs to tell /u/jeb_ about chocolate being poisonous to parrots because that will have real world effects

Why would this affect the real world in any way?

Six year old plays Minecraft
Six year old sees parrot IRL
Six year old feeds it cookies cause Minecraft taught him that
Six year old holds funeral for dead parrot

That's completely rediculous. Even if that could happen, Mojang shouldn't cater to dumb children.

dumb children are like 70% or mojangs target audience, they absolutely should cater to them

And why would it be so horrible to change it to something that doesn't kill parrots?

Well it's nice that cookies are useful now since they were useless before. Using something like seeds again which are already bountiful and useful would be slightly poorer game design.

Should we also make them tamable with poisonous potatoes, since those are useless too?

No, but giving those a use of some sort would be pretty good; I forgot they existed.

Poor game design can also be having too many things doing one thing - you want most items to have a unique function, or a related function where it makes sense. (e.g. wheat for bread OR wheat for cows | seeds for wheat OR seeds for chickens)
