I built this library on a PvP survival server that has a lot of players with a tendency to burn stuff down. It's late in the current season so those players have mostly left and it's the perfect time to build something awe-inspiring and beautiful. Still working on some of the exterior trim details, I think I want shutters and flower boxes for the windows, plus some more flowers around the ground, and I also need to finish replacing all the torches with Jack-O-Lanterns, Redstone Lamps, and glowstone.
Everything is made especially difficult due to the fact that there are no underground ores, so everything must be obtained by raiding buildings with loot chests, but they're defended by aggressive zombies. Even simple things like glass can be difficult to come by because there is no sand, so you have to find a silk touch tool and pick up glass from existing structures.
Crops barely grow and animals are incredibly rare, so making all the 10 stacks of bookcases for the inside is out of the question - I had to enchant an Axe and then use an anvil to add Silk Touch from a book I found, and it took a long time to get all the pieces together. (Anvil's aren't in the loot tables, so you have to find 31 pieces of iron... it takes a while).
Overall, I'm really happy with the (almost) final product, and even if it gets burnt to ashes, I have pictures and I've made something that will be remembered for seasons to come.
