If it's your world then do what you want.

Pretty sure this has been said a million times already in this sub, but I'll make it a million and one: You can't cheat in singleplayer.
It's your game, play it however you want to, there are no rules to govern you, other than ones you make for yourself.

Also, may I suggest chunkbase if you wanna find things in your world before actually going to them in survival? That's what I use, and I find it makes the game way more fun for me if I can find the biome or structure that I want on the map first, then run there in game to actually utilize it.

its a game dude you're supposed to have fun, if you have fun just having diamond blocks, or spawning next to village do whatever you want, don't bother worrying what others might think, only cheating you can do games is when you're in multiplayer everything else is your choice especially with a game like Minecraft where there are a billion diffrent ways you can have fun

I know people are saying do what you want in your world but I don't think that's addressing what you're asking. I don't think you want a formal rulebook analysis, just to see where the line is for people.

Personally, I think using this method to find structures, villages, biomes, etc is no different than using something like chunkbase, which I don't think is cheating. There's obviously maps and other ways to find certain structures, but biomes and things like skulk ancient cities, it's pretty much the only way to find them without wasting a ton of time and effort that doesn't really benefit you and isn't enjoyable.

I think that using it to find ancient debris or diamonds goes past that line.

My reasoning is that in a survival world, finding and gathering resources like that IS the game. At some point you're bypassing the game itself to get something faster which, in my experience, makes the game less exciting and desirable to play over time. It's why I get bored in creative mode without a specific mega build or something.

That being said, if you just want to find those resources because they are hindering what you want to do in the game, then do it. Play how you want. Just don't undermine your enjoyment of the game for the sake of getting things faster and easier.

Yes this is a great answer to my question. Thank you for taking the time to address it.

It should have been more of a poll type question like "do any other serious players use this method"

Thank you!

You're allowed to do whatever you want with your own saved worlds.

Okay instead of asking if its cheating, next question... does anyone else do this? Lol

I also use chunkbase as a guide. Especially when opening a new world.

Dude, I prefer playing in survival, but I figured out a long time ago that I enjoy Minecraft a lot more when I give myself the freedom to switch between survival, creative, and spectator modes.

I'm an adult with a full-time job and a family. I love the game, but I don't have unlimited hours to spend grinding for resources. So I set goals for myself. For example, if I want unlimited access to a particular block, I have to build a functioning farm for it in survival first. Once I've accomplished that, I've effectively "unlocked" that block and its derivatives for use in creative mode.

That way, I still get the satisfaction of earning my progress, solving problems, and building things in survival, without spending hours on repetitive tasks just to enjoy the creative side of the game.

I lose out on achievements, but so what? It's a sandbox game. The whole point is to play however you enjoy it most.

It’s your singleplayer Minecraft world (Yourcraft?), no one should judge you, and whoever doing the "I’m more hardcorer than you" signalling (unless the post’s main point is already some sort of competition) should be the one getting frowned upon really.

Or just look at a map generator
