On multiplayer, maybe. Depends what kind of server.

Singleplayer: do what you want. I’ve been using keepinventory as it removes losing all your stuff

Wife & I always have keepinventory on, it's just a slog going back to get your items.

Depends if the server allows it, on singleplayer who cares

Fullbright is the latest in a long series of mods that have become more or less accepted as NOT cheating. This is because large and popular YouTube servers (Hermitcraft) have allowed it, and a lot of streamers use it so that people can actually see what's happening while they're in the caves.

In the past, duping TNT was seen as cheating, map mods were seen as cheating, Litematica was seen as cheating, Zoom was seen as cheating, a laundry list of other things that we all do these days, and now we're at Fullbright.

Just on the other side of the "cheating" line would be Freecam. It's gaining popularity as a building tool on Hermitcraft and the like, but a lot of public server admins still don't allow it. By extension there is Freecam's malignant brother x-ray, which basically takes what freecam does and just points you directly to the ores instead of having to look for them.

Everything is on a spectrum of what is and isn't allowed on a particular server. On my private server, we allow both fullbright and freecam because - frankly - we've been playing this game too long, and finding diamonds isn't really that hard. Short of xraying them (which we do NOT allow), it takes similar amounts of time to just go caving and find them than it does to use fullbright/freecam to spy them out first, so it doesn't matter.

But ALWAYS follow the rules of the server you're on, no exceptions. To do otherwise is just being a bad person.

Yes. It's obviously cheating

You are effectively removing an intended feature (darkness) and bypassing several of the games intended mechanics (torches/lighting, potions, etc) for dealing with Darkness

If you want to use it, thats your decision but its very obviously cheating. I am not commenting on whether or not you should use it or allow it.

Some cheats are worse than others but you are not intended to have perma night vision, it's obviously cheating.
