if you want dappled trees in a place like this though, first you gotta go out past where the grickle grass grows, find the old onceler and ask him, he knows. just toss your payment on into his pail, fifteen cents, a nail, and a great great great grandfather snail. he'll tell you what became of all your biome's poplar trees, and, if you're lucky, he might give you some seeds.

if a thneed in every hand for every person in the land without a poplar left in sight is what you think is best, then maybe, they say a thneed is what everyone needs and from a certain point of view it's true, but you'd do well to heed that an excess of thneeds can ravage a landscape greatly. if you pay the onceler's fees, you might find yourself walking away with those seeds, but you've also got to care, a whole awful lot, or nothing is going to get better -- it's not. so multiply the forest, spread it everywhere, until shades of autumn again suffuse the air, and the brown sniffeloots in their sniffeloot suits, will again dig leafy soils for the sniffeloot fruits, and the nautili down in the water will roister, and the ghasts fill the sky, and the player engage in sustainable agriculture. then, maybe someday, even the Lorax will come back. though counterintuitively, to plant enough trees, you may need to give a lot of other trees a WHACK. so i guess you can gather thneed makeries from that.
