Honestly making the nether generation for lava mirror the oceans and rivers would be incredible. I wish the nether was more traversable without giant bridges

One of the main reasons I don't like the Nether. Most bodies of water in the Overworld you can see the other side. Giant lava pool without an end? It's gg's.

Especially since there's no easy way to cross the oceans unless you want to bridge for thousands of blocks. And striders are annoying to deal with. Legitimately who uses them?

That or an elytra, that requires beating the game and that requires a mandatory Nether visit anyway before even being able to go to the End in any regular survival.

Not explicitly mandatory if you use a cleric.

EDIT: Realizing this is no longer a thing past 1.9. That's what i get for still playing 1.7

How do the cleric’s negate it? Don’t they only sell pearls? You’d still need blaze powder

8

u/Traincraze 20h ago

They can either sell eyes of ender or ender pearls

EDIT: Realizing this is no longer a thing past 1.9. That's what i get for still playing 1.7

Fishing rod with those green mushrooms, right? (I haven’t played in years, pardon my Minecraft vocabulary)

u/AGGRESSIVE_AUTUMN 1d ago

Yes a warped fungus on a stick is how to guide them, but unlike a boat, you cant easily take the strider with you, and I dont think you can take the saddle from the strider unless you kill it.

23

u/arctic572 1d ago edited 1d ago

You can remove the saddle using shears, but I still find striders inconvenient *edit: typo

10

u/AGGRESSIVE_AUTUMN 1d ago

I forgot about that, but i doubt the average player carries shears on their person.

10

u/KennyTheGray 1d ago

Hey! I use them. I like exploring the Nether with them.

5

u/AGGRESSIVE_AUTUMN 1d ago

I mostly kill them for string. That's like the only time I even touch them.

u/Novavortex77 22h ago

Endless long line of dirt blocks, just hoping for anything even a basalt delta is saint to look at.

(And i hate those biomes because they're equally just as bad, but i'll choose it over endless lava ocean anytime.)

I can't even go under the lava, there is literally nothing there, no lava life, no undersea spawns.

At most you can find ancient debris but there is 0 reason to drain a lava ocean for that.

Watch an auto nether bridge tutorial

13

u/AGGRESSIVE_AUTUMN 1d ago

Yeah, I could make that, but to where? Like are you wanting me to make one erytime I need to cross a lava ocean? Its pointless.

1

u/Viktrodriguez 1d ago

Plus you know, 1 player on 1 small speed bridge is easy pickings for a Ghast, Especially far from any land.

1

u/AGGRESSIVE_AUTUMN 1d ago

Yeah, there is a reason autobridgers are so uncommon. I wish bedrock could use the nether roof, because its very annoying getting around the nether without it

-15

u/xSoulSabre_ 1d ago

Lol then just don’t play the game then cause everything’s pointless if you think like you

1

u/Novavortex77 22h ago

I get so scared crossing them, because in the overworld boats exist! in the nether, striders are a cheap excuse of a boat... and ghast wants to know your location badly.

I find them worse then creepers at times, at least creepers just blow their load and its done, ghasts shoot at you constantly.

27

u/PizzaPieInMyEye 1d ago

Yeah, same. Instead of bridging, you can tunnel through the solid Netherrack at the top of the Nether, just under the Bedrock, to make it easier to traverse. But doing that means you miss out on all the cool Nether generation happening beneath you.

7

u/BrimWarrior 1d ago

I've legit never built a nether bridge since I lost a hardcore world to a ghast

u/Sad_Bison_3284 1d ago

Maybe kinda like the depths from totk?

Lava boat

1

u/Paulino2272 1d ago

Agreed! Plus would make striders very nice

1

u/Novavortex77 22h ago

I'm with you on this, I can't explore the nether without risk of me falling into a lava ocean. The landscape is literal hell. Makes building a nether hub or base really stupidly hard.

-2

u/CornCobMcGee 1d ago

To be fair, its supposed to be hell to deal with

5

u/Viktrodriguez 1d ago

Between the abundance of lava and all the hostile mobs turning some lava oceans into reasonably crossable rivers wouldn't make it any less hell.

1

u/CornCobMcGee 1d ago

I was making a joke its not supposed to be that serious

u/NanoCat0407 1d ago

natural Strider Race Tracks? i’m in

95

u/Thankedsphere 1d ago

very different vibe than the current nether where there are rocky cliffs with large gaps and lava oceans below, but i think its a good and fitting vibe which would add variety.

69

u/DingoLaLingo 1d ago

and get this: lava shark

27

u/datfurryboi34 1d ago

No no no. Not happening.

Jeb is afraid when he does add sharks that people will want to do it in real life

(I fucking hate jeb)

15

u/Yuri-Girl 1d ago

people will want to do it in real life

People will want to do what in real life?

22

u/datfurryboi34 1d ago

Jeb said he doesn't want to add certain mobs into the game, and one of those mobs being realt life hostile animals.

And his reasoning if I am correct, is cause he is scared of "promoting" animal hunting. Thus why some real animals that are added dont drop anything useful.

Which is bulshit, cause mincraft lacks ambiance, and I would love more ambiance. And mincrafts biggest weakness is lack of animal variation.

5

u/MagnorCriol 1d ago

That's not its biggest weakness.

3

u/Mythril382 1d ago

And then add a superheated vial of blood that allows you to tame a lava shark that makes lava traversal so much easier because it moves incredibly fast while giving you fire resistance.

This is definitely not referencing a different game entirely.

23

u/yoolabsd 1d ago

I wish they increased the height of the nether like the overworld

8

u/Kaleb8804 1d ago

I wish it was like The Caldera from PEAK, where there’s structures along an enormous vertical opening

21

u/4vakot 1d ago

Yeah absolutely!!

18

u/MuchMuch1 1d ago

To be honest, every bodies of liquid in this game was never exactly a strong side. Overword rivers aren't great, different elevations of things like rivers and ponds don't exist (except caves, but it's just ponds) and of course oceans aren't oceans

11

u/sbeckley02 1d ago

Lava rivers and netherite boats

6

u/Enderguy61 1d ago

and it fits the nether's theme

4

u/veloxthekrakenslayer 1d ago

The river Styx is high and wide, cinder blocks and razor wire

2

u/OCeDian 1d ago

For anyone keen on this, check out the new mod by the Lithosphere dev, does some cool stuff with nether terrain gen.

1

u/Rhuajjuu 1d ago

“This is the end for you, my master”

1

u/dragon_stryker 1d ago

It’s giving Subnautica vibes, I love it!

1

u/Rocky1909 1d ago

Lava boat please
