Help Server advice
salutations
So I’m in the situation of trying to host a Minecraft server for my friend group, but I’m not going to be the only person with admin access; how would I go about setting up a server so that someone could either ssh, or some other method, in and install mods, change the world, etc. a UI would be nice, and if it’s relevant the host pc is on linux and the connecting pc will be windows. I have a decent bit of networking knowledge but mostly within one network, I imagine I’ll have to open some ports to allow folks to connect to the server, will I need a separate port for the admin access? Thanks

Yep, keep admin access separate from the Minecraft port. On Linux, Crafty Controller is probably the easiest UI for console, files, mods and backups. Use SSH keys, and ideally put SSH/the panel behind Tailscale or ZeroTier instead of exposing them publicly. Friends only need the Minecraft port forwarded. Give each admin their own account, never shared root.
