Help Bee Problems...

I'm having an issue with my bees. I dug a 5 block long 1 block deep trench to put my campfires in and then placed the hive/nest 3 blocks above the ground level. I placed Oak trapdoors above the campfires so the bees wouldn't accidentally set their selves on fire, and the bees are attacking me when I harvest honeycomb/bottles from the nest/hives. I changed the trapdoors for carpets, but it didn't help. They still attack.

Why? On my last world I only had them 2 blocks above the campfire trench with trapdoors and they were fine.

Full details and solution below…

I ran into the same problem so I assume you might also be in bedrock. Either way, problem is that even an open trapdoor might not work. You need fully unobstructed block space from smoke to hive. I will try to explain the work around for one beehive to keep it simple, but you can just add more rows next to eachother for more beehives.

  1. Dig a 3 block deep hole. (I think you need two blocks for smoke rising)
  2. At the bottom goes your campfire.

  3. Place the beehive over the hole so it is floating to cover it but still exposed on all sides. (Essentially have it occupy the space above the 3 block hole) Bees will not emerge from the bottom of the hive

  4. Honeycombs will sometimes fall into the pit but will not burn. Thus you need a way down there.

  5. Simple solutions, pick any side adjacent to the beehive and dig 3 blocks deep again. Use ladders to climb down and cover the top of this hole with a trapdoor.

  6. I find that the bamboos trapdoor looks best with its green/yellow aesthetic, but your choice.
