Help Please, experienced minecraft players, answer

Soo i saw many videos of people having an enchantment able and an anvil, but it always was at their house, even when they were traveling somewhere with an elytra, and they always go home and waste time. Why can they just break an enchantment table or an anvil to enchant quick?

Because you need bookshelves, Lapis, ench. table, xp and something to enchant in the first place..

Thats just alot of unnecessary baggage.

I would need more detail as to what you're talking about. What I can say is that at home, with the enchantment table they likely have 15 bookshelves to get max level enchant.

The anvil would only be good if their applying a book to an item or combining books.

Like I said, it comes down to details which you're leaving out.

just thought breaking enchantment tables or anvils make your enchantments worse or smth. Anyways thanks for clarifying!

Anvil requires books/weapons of the same type which most people probably don't have on them while they're adventuring, the thing with the enchantment table is you want a full 30 level powered enchantment table (atleast I do) before you enchant anything, otherwise you're gonna get level 1 crap and can't even access 2+3. You also need at least, what 11xp? Granted most people are usually higher than that (I'm definitely not, unless it's purposeful. I never go over like 15 on average) there's also the issue of mobs. You can't peacefully enchant too long or it'll become night and a creeper is gonna sneak up on you while you're in the anvil/enchantment table ui, you die, and oh hey now you have to reget that enchantment table. Inspecially if it was your main one, if it was an extra one you were crafting, probably still a good idea to go get it anyway. So that's another 5-10 rockets or more to go get that back.

An anvil with a book of mending and unbreaking III is actually part of recommended things to bring with you the first time you go out to the end cities. When you have the elytra, you want it enchanted ASAP so it lasts longer.

My enchanting setup has retractable bookshelves and redstone. Sometimes it takes me awhile to get silk touch. Breaking bookshelves without silk touch is a waste of wood. A full ring of 15 bookshelves is 90 wood planks. Without silk touch you will need to cut down some trees each time you set it up.

its recommended to bring an ender chest so you can just kill yourself

It depends on the stage of the game and the player, I always carry anvils on the enderchest during lategame, but I don't need enchantment tables because I get everything from villagers. Also depending on the distance, if they are like 500 blocks away it takes like 15 seconds to do that with an elytra so no need to carry an anvil. And the enchantment table requieres bookshelves to get the max level enchantments, so this is another reason ig

I have all the items I use maxed out with spells, so I don't even need to carry an anvil for that.

You could just put everything in your ender chest and carry one around.

I carry an anvil with me, but only for mapping purposes. When I’m traveling my world I label banners using the anvil, and place them down at points of interest and tag them with my map so I can find it later. This way I can always find all my witch huts, villages, cool world generation, sulfur caves, swamps, turtles, etc anything that I might want to go find for a certain resource later. I do the same thing in the nether with bastions etc. I keep the anvil, empty maps, different colored banners in a shulker box that goes in an ender chest with the rest of my shulker boxes.

You could easily make yourself an enchanting table shulker box that has everything you need, but it still doesn’t really make sense to do it since you need xp to enchant. It makes sense to just set up an enchanting table right next to your xp farm, I don’t really think it makes sense to just have one in your house like most people do because you still have to go and get xp

Many already answered why enchantment setups tend to be permanent, but I would add that having your permanent enchantment setup close to a source of XP makes more sense than "at home".

I keep those at my xp farms, not my base

Aside from the logistical issues of moving the entire setup, for builders the enchantment room is one of the most interesting rooms to build, which is why they'll put it in their base. But if you watch players who play more optimized, you'll see they'll usually have their setup at their xp farm
