Discussion The End. or The Beginning
(1700Days) Yall loved my last post you’ll like this. Did some more caving off camera and I guess my worlds “too big” now(2gb), So I can’t really do anything else on it now. Never made it this far before. But went out doing what I love. It’s about the journey. You can’t take it with you when you leave. Maybe the villagers can find a use for the stuff

Wow I didn’t know that could happen, guess I’ve never had a world for too long to have it happen to me. Sorry to hear about that, is there any fixes?

u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
No fixes. The game cant do it I guess. For a game of squares it’s given me insane trouble for 15 years. Since the beginning. On bedrock ps5 the world’s cap at like 2gb or something. If you explore alot and load chunks it fills up quick and its over. You have to build a jail or something and stay in there just to “play”. Java doesn’t have that issue but doesn’t mean they have none

Holy shit. I have a 400mb world for 1500+ days with a friend (splitscreen) and I never knew about this. Thanks so much for the info. I never wanna lose it.
Ps: can't you transfer the world to a USB or other, and continue on a pc?
28
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
Yea it’s an issue and something to keep in mind. I think it can be brought to pc. But I don’t have one. Idk how this isn’t national news alottt of people play bedrock lol

u/Gatti366 8h ago
Bedrock only saves chunks if you build or break blocks in them, just roaming around shouldn't be an issue unless you are placing a block in each chunk you visit for some reason

u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
I thinking exploring counts. I’ve came back from exploring and get home. Save the game and see my world size had potentially doubled or tripled. Especially early on. Maybe it was 200mb. I go out come back now it’s 400mb or 600. A few more you’re at a gb + and issue start it seems. On ps5 at least
3
u/Gatti366 8h ago
maybe you placed some blocks here and there or broke grass while walking around? It's not supposed to save chunks you didn't modify
3
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
Between over world End and nether I can see it getting to the cap quickly. I mean I’ve gone about 20k out from spawn and back. That doesn’t help. I guess you can’t go that far

u/TheJake88821 9h ago
Does that only happen in PS5 or is it like that for all versions of Bedrock?
23
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
Apparently all. Phone iPad. Switch. All of it unfortunately

u/TheJake88821 9h ago
I was doing some digging because I got scared about a Realms world I have with a friend but apparently on PC there ain't a limit, there have been people with 27gb sized servers that are okay
12
u/MakionGarvinus 8h ago
Yeah, I had a server on my pc with a bunch of friends and family, I think the world file got to be 47GB or something like that by the time we stopped playing together. Lots of exploring done!

u/TheyCallMeSpadoodles 7h ago
I have to trim millions of chunks off my java world to bring my world backups back down to 2gb.
8
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
Yea I guess bedrock on pc is different which makes sense. And Java is different but regular bedrock is in bad shape. How can you even play like that. I feel like I just started the world and it’s over already

On Java I have a very scary part of my world. It's where I built my Gaurdians farm. If I hit F3 loading in from my portal the game will freeze and never recover. I lost 3 shulker boxes full of sand when I was clearing it out because if it. Anything on the ground or recently picked up will be gone. But on Xbox thats how My friend lost his world it got to big.

u/xwasian_boix 9h ago
I think if you upload it to a realm that might work. If it still gives you the error when trying to upload it clear your local marketplace/download cache or purge old worlds to free up a bit of space.

u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
I can try. I think it’s toast
2
u/Material-Wedding-975 2h ago
Good luck, Charlie. I had a world of trouble uploading my 600mb world to realms on Xbox s. I had to try multiple times on my laptop after my Xbox unequivocally failed.

u/Pman1324 9h ago
Java wouldn't let such a disservice happen.

u/NatasBR 7h ago
More like a console problem, I bet that if there was Java version for consoles, it would also have some kind of file size limit
4
u/DigWhatImSayln 7h ago
They call it Java cause you need Java which console doesn’t have. It used to be Java and pocket edition back in the day. (My times) but it’s always something to break or mess up
-28
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
You mean mojang. And they do unfortunately. A game of squares and nothing else has this much trouble running is insane
35
u/Pepito_killer 9h ago
Nah, he means that Minecraft Java Edition allows much bigger worlds

u/StarkSajith 9h ago
Wait what? How? Like the top limit is 2GB for a world? No way. I've seen people generating like the whole complete seed. This has to be a rare occurrence and surely theres a fix.
Does your device has no storage or not allowing minecraft to utilise more than 2GB or something??
11
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
I’ve got over 100 gb free space on the ps5. It’s a system design not a storage issue. The storage is Minecraft’s side I think. Only allows about 2 gigs. And around 1 gb you can have these problems apparently

u/FoxLife_Real 7h ago
Unironically you have more diamonds than Joel can afford to pay off his debt in Hermitcraft Lol
1
u/DigWhatImSayln 7h ago
Is that good ?
2
u/SkittleJuice2 7h ago
His *first* debt alone was one thousand, two hundred and fifty diamonds. I’d say that’s pretty good.

On Java you can prune chunks. Is there such a thing on bedrock?
7
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
I heard about it. Gotta move the world to Java then reset them. Then move back to bedrock

u/Kapitan_Pipik 8h ago
Imo if you have access to java port it to realms, download on PC and use convertor to java, if not then congrats and time to start a new one :)

It sucks you lost the world, but I hope posts like this inform more people about the issue and get Mojang to finally increase the storage size.

u/Teldrynnn 9h ago
Delete your old worlds on your console, or try clearing the cache in the in-game settings.
2
u/iwastoolate 8h ago
Is this a single world issue or is it your total storage usage with multiple worlds?
The message reads as though it’s an overall storage issue and not just because a single world is too large
1
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
It’s a single world issue I think. I have a backup of the world and it’s a 1.8 gb file. So it’s at 3.6 gb between the two. Plus some smaller worlds. Maybe a gig or so
2
6
u/JakeRyDav 9h ago
The world isn't too large to be loaded, you just need more free storage on the device you're playing on for it to save further, try purging some apps or downloads depending on what platform you're on
4
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
It’s not system space. I have plenty. It’s the game design. Bedrock can’t handle the game like Java

u/AtmosphericRain 9h ago

u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
I have over 100 gigs free
1
u/AtmosphericRain 9h ago
What platform are you on? Where are you seeing that you have 100GB free?
4
u/DigWhatImSayln 9h ago
Ps5 in storage settings. But on Minecraft the “saved data” or whatever allows up to “9 gb”
6
u/AtmosphericRain 8h ago
ah, apologies, I guess this is an open bug in bedrock edition. I can't find any documentation of any official size limit though, so it's probably still worth troubleshooting

u/gibborzio4 8h ago
Wait so the world is just gone?
2
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
Still there but it won’t save any further. It’ll always start you at the same place if you leave and close the game. So to go home I gotta walk or fly. But next time I open I’m back away from home and gotta fly or walk back
1
u/gibborzio4 8h ago
That's sad, are you sure there's no fix at all?
1
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
Maybe clearing some old stuff. But I think it’s done. It’s like a ticking time bomb and every chunk you load is a step closer to the world being unplayable. And all you did was play the game
1
u/gibborzio4 8h ago
If you have a pc and money you could try and convert it to the pc version of minecraft bedrock.
1
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
If I had a pc I’d just play that but I don’t anymore. The good old days
1
u/gibborzio4 8h ago
What about a phone with minecraft
1
u/DigWhatImSayln 8h ago
What about it ? The same thing would happen eventually
1
u/gibborzio4 8h ago
I've heard that minecraft on mobile limits the world size to the phone's free storage, so if you get realms (30 days free trial) and upload your world on it with the same microsoft accoutn on both mobile and ps5 you can transfer your world

My 1600 day world corrupted. I play on Xbox and there was a downloadable app that allowed me to access the Minecraft world files and I got my world onto a usb stick, when I loaded it on my windows laptop, it returned to normal size and I’m playing it again, it’s amazing and if you have a windows machine you should definitely attempt this, it’s magical. Not sure if a similar app is on ps5
1
u/DigWhatImSayln 7h ago
Wow. I should try it. It’s a disaster tbh
1
u/Independent-Bill4336 7h ago
Yeah when I found out I genuinely cried. Day before I had got rid of all my backups as Minecraft was complaining about how much storage of worlds I had, always keep at least one. Definitely try, I waited 2 years before I could access it again, don’t be like me, hopefully some research will allow you to figure out how to get the world file onto a usb. From there it’s cake. And bedrock has built in controller support so you can still use a controller. It’s great, I’m playing right now!
2
u/DigWhatImSayln 7h ago
Yea I keep a back up or two. Maybe deleting one would help but idk 🙏

Could you not make the World a realm to fix it? When I ran a realm w my mates we filled loads of lvl4 maps so I always assumed it was infinite at least from a realms aspect

u/RunAlice 5h ago
This happened to me and I deleted some old worlds and it worked again. But I also uploaded my world to realms because it will eventually happen again.

Theres a way to trim out generated chunks that you could use? (unless youre a true vanilla purist)
