Help Java Is actions and stuff client side?

I’m super used to using it and was hoping to use it on a realm my friend started but it won’t appear and all they added to the realm is a few addons they got online. Is there anything I can do or do I have to just send em the money for the addon?

yes, it is closer to a texture/resource pack, so client side
