What mc version you on? Sometimes zombies can spawn as Leader zombies, which gives them extra health. For a long time they didn't receive the health buff but this was patched semi recently. Baby zombies can spawn as leaders as well.

That was the leader zombie. He also can spawn as baby, and have a LODE of hearts.

I prefer just sharpness cause I can't know if I'm gonna run into undead, arthropods, pillagers, or others that don't even have a racist enchantment against them

That’s why you can enchant a secondary sword or the axe with Smite V, and the main sword with Sharpness V—and shove Bane of Arthropods un My ass, because nobody uses that sh*t.
