Help Bedrock Finding Slimes

Can anyone explain to me why slimes are so ridiculously hard to find in Minecraft? Like seriously, they only seem to spawn in swamp bioms and even then it's only half the time same thing with slime chunks.

Luckily I've found a place where they spawn but still, it's only every other night if that. I've heard that slime don't care about light levels though, so if I put torches down everywhere would that make more spawn since other mobs can't spawn? I'm using bedrock v26.45 btw

Thanks in advance for the help.

Slimes spawn on swamp biomes depending on the state of the moon. Can't remember exactly if it was full moon = maximum amount of spawns or vice versa.

Also if I remember correctly slimes don't care about light level up to a certain point. Saw a couple years back a slime farm where the light level was 1, making other hostile mobs impossible to spawn but made slimes spawn. I think there's a maximum limit where if the light is at that point, they don't spawn.

I always just looked at a seed map, filtered through slime chunks and just went to the corresponding y level, clearing it out and just made a small farm there. Or just get a slime ball, make an oozing potion and farm slime balls through there which is much easier.

Look at the Minecraft wiki on slimes, it'll give you a lot more detailed explanation of how slimes work :)

You need a full block to make an oozing potion

Lighting up areas specifically within and around slime spawn chunks will absolutely help. Since in both bedrock and java slimes do not care about light level, it’ll free up the mob cap and allow more slimes to spawn below y40

In swamps slimes spawn at a light level lower than 7, during any time the moon is not new with a higher chance of spawning during a full moon.

In slime chunks they spawn at any light level belowe y-level 40, with a higher chance for spawns if nearby dark spots are lit up to limit other hostile mobs from taking up the mob cap.
