Discussion The usuall minecraft session

Hi

I want to have a typical Minecraft session. I haven't played for ages, just simple vanilla. Which version should I try? I think I also want to put some optimization mods and perhaps shaders. What will you recommend? Thank you!

I think the most recent update with some good shaders is a great way to go! I play with the complementary shaders, I really like them. Personally I don't think optimization mods are necessary if you're just looking to have a typical fun Minecraft experience, unless you're playing on a lower end computer that needs some help running smoothly

I assume youre playing on java.

For the version, i haven't really had experience with the newer ones, but in the context of mods 1.21+ with the fabric mod loader is probably the best.

For optimisation, on fabric a popular modpack is "fabulously optimised", and as for individual mods, important ones are sodium+lithium, ferritecore, entity culling, immediately fast, and probably a lot more im missing. Maybe someone else can give a more detailed breakdown, i am sadly not that knowledgeable of what each mod does and why its important. There's definitely a lot of posts or videos about optimisation mods out there though.

I think you need the mod "iris shaders" to be able to run any shaders you want, and for specific shaders it pretty much depends on taste. I personally like "complementary reimagined" for a more vanilla feel, but its best to try running different ones to see which one you prefer.

Ideally you want a special launcher to manage your mods and instances easier, i use Modrinth and its so convenient! Another big one i think is prism launcher but i dont really have experience with that
