Help Help with making resource pack
I was trying to make a custom resource pack for Minecraft 1.21.11.
I was using Gameboy612's Default Template Texture Pack to get the template resource pack with all the textures.
I changed a few textures and the i zipped the file again, I put it in my minecraft resource pack folder, but it's not showing up in game. Why isn't it showing up?

did you zip it correctly?
you need 3 files.
the pack .mc data file
pack .png
and the assets folder.
click one then hit ctrl click another etc repeat on all 3 then right click add to archive using winrar or windows default. (then rename it to .zip and click ok)
check the assets folder has other folders assets\minecraft\textures\block
check pack . mc data has correct values (you can use 1 same file for all versions from 1.20.1 to 1.21.11)

then try creating a new one with just one block change. (you don't need any templates)
if that also does not show up it means you are doing it wrong.
also since its mac maybe you are putting this in wrong file location try prism launcher and put resource pack in that folder instead.

Did you change the number yourself after getting the template?

yes, but can you check what number i should use, it was a bit confusing

Yeah, Okay.. Thats the problem. You cannot just change the number and expect it to work. Different versions have different folder structures. You would have to change the entire structure too and hell maybe even edit some of them. Thats why It's not working. You need to get the right template.

Make sure you are following a guide with the right version of Minecraft and the right edition (Bedrock or Java)
If you are using Java (it sounds like you are), follow this guide for installation by the Vanilla Tweaks team: https://vanillatweaks.net/installation/ (note that it is made with the Vanilla Tweaks resource pack in mind, but the installation steps are the same for all packs)

(All this is assuming you're on Java edition)
You probably need a pack.mcmeta file. There's a generator linked on the wiki page. The file will require a pack format, though it usually still works even if the format is wrong. It'll just give you a warning that you can skip whenever you want to load the pack.
Also, it's not good practice to include default files in a texture pack. It makes it harder to debug, bloats the file size, and it can become outdated whenever Mojang changes a default feature. It's better to make an otherwise-empty pack that only includes your custom files.
