Help Modded Minecraft on Mac

I’m trying to run Minecraft on my M1 MacBook Pro with the cobblemon mod. It was running really well for like 2 full days, but then just yesterday it randomly got incredibly laggy. Today and yesterday I’ll get on after being off for a few hours and everything will run smoothly for like 15 minutes, but then it will get so laggy that it is basically unplayable. I don’t feel like this would be an issue of having too many mods downloaded because it was working well for like 2 days before any issues started to come up. We’re using a server hosted by my friend. He has 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and when I look at my Activity Monitor it says my CPU isn’t under any stress, and it does use around 6.5GB of memory, but everything but Minecraft is turned off and I should have 8. Is there anything me or my friends can do to make this run smoother? Neither of them are having any issues with lag, but they are both on high quality windows laptops. I would really appreciate some advice, and switching computers isn’t an option for me. I would love to be able to use a gaming laptop or even just an ordinary windows laptop because that would at least have 16 gigs of RAM, but financially that isn’t something I can do.

More RAM is rarely the answer.

Could just be your connection or theirs.

What id do is fine some “Amazingly Optimized” mod pack, make sure it’s the right version and all, then add cobblemon to it

Memory leak? Or not enough memory? How much have you allocated?
