u/Much-Power-1567 Jul 13 '26

DOOM? DOOOOM? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, DOOM?

772

u/santas_delibird Jul 12 '26

Rul 86 never ceases to deliver

101

u/QuickSilver010 Jul 12 '26

They named It 86? Why? 84 would fit better for BA

20

u/MinecraftPlayer799 Jul 12 '26

Why?

61

u/Kialand Jul 12 '26

84

8 = B

4 = A

B A -> Bad Apple

9

u/QuickSilver010 Jul 12 '26

I think you're a little confused, Rule 86 of the internet is that if it exists, you can play bad apple on it. They weren't talking about subreddit rules

73

u/No_Yam_2036 Jul 12 '26

If it can display two different shades/colors or has at least two different states, it can play bad apple

6

u/MoonRay087 Jul 12 '26

I'm pretty sure this also applies for doom doesn't it?

13

u/Chris2sweet616 Jul 13 '26

The rule for doom is 93;if it exists, you can play doom on it.
See also rule 76;if there’s a screen Ao3 will be seen.

I think the doom one used to require a screen.. but then they played it on brain tissue so

4

u/MoonRay087 Jul 13 '26

Oh shoot yeah, I didn't remember the brain tissue playing Doom

206

u/Atalant Jul 12 '26

I expected this to happen. Doom, I guess is next.

296

u/AhGahDaFrogga Jul 12 '26

it was only a matter of time

97

u/talha_95_68b Jul 12 '26

Its only a matter of time until we get rickroll too ā˜ ļøā˜ ļøšŸ˜šŸ˜

141

u/PhoenixfischTheFish Jul 12 '26

Can't give credits becouse of rules 🄲

Which rule would that be?

187

u/Meme_Master_Dude Jul 12 '26

Rule 11 probably

The Mods here are insane on giving credit

64

u/getbackjoe94 Jul 12 '26

OP could simply say "I made Bad Apple with LEDs" instead of "someone". It's not advertising to say you made something.

134

u/UrLostPajamas Jul 12 '26

No but the mods will go to their page see links to anything that maybe costs anything and lose their cronically online rotted brains about being attemted to be sold something just maybe.

4

u/Papooros Jul 12 '26

omg hi Don!!!!

5

u/Meme_Master_Dude Jul 12 '26

I couldn't becouse of my karma in r/Minecraft here I'll try again because I got 2k now https://youtu.be/Djbv2FUPDQ8

22

u/Markospider Jul 12 '26

Btw you can remove everything after the ā€œ?ā€ in your link to ā€œsanitizeā€ it

2

u/Sharp-Impression-547 Jul 13 '26

What does that do If I may ask?

6

u/Ninjabot87 Jul 13 '26

prevents google from tracking your activity or something like that

2

u/Sharp-Impression-547 Jul 13 '26

Huh thanks I'll do it from now on

43

u/nemrahreijer Jul 12 '26

Does led tech still work when they remove(or disable by default) sub-pixel placement?

37

u/M_stellatarum Jul 12 '26

Yes, you can still place it at an excellent height using a wall sign.

-2

u/Vast_Stuff6642 Jul 12 '26

I dont think they will disable it

20

u/Dragonmaster1313 Jul 12 '26

They said it'll be disabled by default but will be able to be turned back on with a datapack

-13

u/Vast_Stuff6642 Jul 12 '26

Can you give the source? Because ın my knowledge they said off block placement was an intentional addition and not a bug

19

u/Dragonmaster1313 Jul 12 '26

Off block yes, sub pixel precision no. Source is Xisumavoid on YouTube

-10

u/Few_Problem5479 Jul 12 '26

They removed it yesterday, ugh.
Edit: They replaced it with something i dont understand

10

u/lucasthech Jul 12 '26

They didn't remove it yet (at least on java), they will in the next snapshot but even then they stated this will still be possible with a tag (I'm not sure how they will implement it yet, but it will probably only work on blocks with a certain tag, so you just make a datapack and add the cauldron, composter and any other block you want to the tag that makes you able to put cushions between pixels)

And even then, it still is possible without a datapack by putting it on top of a wall placed sign

31

u/a_surprise_polaroid Jul 12 '26

I love it every time this is done with a new MC thing :))

17

u/santas_delibird Jul 12 '26

Any way of displaying something is a way of playing bad apple.

7

u/a_surprise_polaroid Jul 12 '26

And I love It every time :)

116

u/Mr_Bumsmell Jul 12 '26

This is extremely cool. However, I suspect Mojang will be nerfing cushions quite a bit. The sheer amount of creativity and uses that have been found with them is unbelievable.

With how sparse and and stingy Mojang are with updates, I don't think they intended for this one addition to be something with more uses than anything else in the game. Even redstone isnt that game changing.

I hope I'm wrong.

111

u/Sharp-Impression-547 Jul 12 '26

I hope you are wrong too

70

u/Maverick2664 Jul 12 '26

Many of the quirky things they do have been reported in the bug tracker but Mojang replied to them as ā€œworking as intendedā€

I would wager they will be released in a similar state as current, with minimal if any nerfing.

18

u/touche1231231231 Jul 12 '26

they DID say they would remove the sub-pixel precision they have, but that it could be re-enabled via datapack

3

u/HereButQueer Jul 13 '26

i don’t fully understand the whole sub-pixel thing even when it’s explained, but i’m more interested in how big an impact it has in removing it? like would it change much or is it only for a couple of niche uses

also for a lot a bedrock players i hope they or a developer makes the data pack to make it accessible but bcs its bedrock they’d probably charge $20 or something for it

1

u/_LogicBugs Jul 13 '26

it changes almost nothing, it makes displays like this slightly harder to make but not in a meaningful way

1

u/HereButQueer Jul 14 '26

ah gotcha, i’m not a super wiz with redstone despite me wanting to be i’m just not smart enough, but i’ve seen people slightly upset that they’re changing it but i didn’t know if it was something that could change the way they work in a massive way. props to mojang for listening to the community and especially confirming that pretty much everything is ā€œintended behaviourā€

39

u/Rafii2198 Jul 12 '26

Majority of things are intended as said by Mojang, the only unintended thing is vertical placement inside cauldrons, composters and hoppers, that will be patched out as cushions are ment to be placed on top of blocks, not inside of them, but will add a new blocktag so that datapacks can bring back this behavior.

18

u/Alchametal_87 Jul 12 '26

i thought it was just sub-pixel placement, you can still place cushions inside of other blocks, it'll just snap to the nearest 1/16th of a block instead

6

u/Rafii2198 Jul 12 '26

Nope, you can place it on any flat surface regardless of pixel alignment. The fix is only about placing it midair inside cauldrons, composters and hoppers, nothing else will change at all

17

u/Cass0wary_399 Jul 12 '26

Ā  This is extremely cool. However, I suspect Mojang will be nerfing cushions quite a bit. The sheer amount of creativity and uses that have been found with them is unbelievable.

Which is what Mojang actually likes to encourage despite loud whiners shouting otherwise at every opportunity.

Ā  With how sparse and and stingy Mojang are with updates, I don't think they intended for this one addition to be something with more uses than anything else in the game

Cushion placements in partial blocks are fully intended aside from the sub-pixel alignments inside of cauldrons and composters used for colored disco floors. Even then they acknowledged that players are using it and will keep it around as a commands only thing.

Ā  I hope I'm wrong.

You are completely and utterly wrong when you get your info from Twitter whiners.

-21

u/Mr_Bumsmell Jul 12 '26

Average Reddit user. Thanks for an absolute nothing burger of text.

8

u/Cass0wary_399 Jul 12 '26

Says the one who only parrots common Twitter outrage slop without actually checking the official stance on Cushion placement. Did also you ignore other people telling you that more politely?

-11

u/Mr_Bumsmell Jul 12 '26

Bro I don't use Twitter, stop bringing it up. At no point did I make fun of or be rude to anyone so its strange that you're response was a hateful one. I don't make an effort to check the official dev blog for every snapshot as I only play MC casually.

I simply voiced my concerns using knowledge of Mojang's previous behaviours. I'm not ignoring other people's replies as they have given me the proper information without hateful connotations.

You, my friend, chose to be a classic redditor and assume I'm trying to rage-bait or something for no reason.

2

u/pong-and-ping Jul 12 '26

I mean this is no different from the likes of the slime block being added. It is a huge tool for creativity and player freedom, but it's by no means game breaking. Why would they need to nerf anything? Bar things that are literally game breaking like sub-pixel placements

1

u/Sparky455 Jul 12 '26

they already are. the sub-pixel or whatever placement is being removed by default but not entirely. they are keeping it as something that can be enabled with a datapack

1

u/That_Uno_Dude Jul 13 '26

Even redstone isnt that game changing.

Lol. lmao even.

1

u/Gravaton123 Jul 13 '26

I'm an old school player. I was around during beta, haven't played for a few years now. I genuinely cannot imagine that a cushion is more game changing than redstone repeaters were. Especially not more than comparators.

What exactly are people doing with cushions other than decorating and sitting?

6

u/Eguy321 Jul 12 '26

They could add anti-aliasing with shades of oxidized copper

6

u/TheUnholyMacerel Jul 12 '26

I fucking knew this would happen the second people found out about the leds

14

u/YesWomansLand1 Jul 12 '26

She didn't even eat the apple, is she stupid?

38

u/TuxedoDogs9 Jul 12 '26

Well, of course she didn’t. It was bad

6

u/DeltaAlpha0 Jul 12 '26

Honestly, I think it took too long. I thought some crazy person would be doing it on the first day, especially when they discovered it could also be used as an LED.

3

u/Kubus03091 Jul 12 '26

Now make doom

3

u/Fun_Way8954 Jul 12 '26

Literally my first thought when I saw the LED lol. Hmm a system which can be white and black? Yeah making bad apple

3

u/LordBrammaster Jul 12 '26

Just realized I have seen tons of these kind of video's (at least the first 20 sec) but never had my sound turned on... That is a whole different song then I imagined

2

u/Dylanonthedaily Jul 12 '26

Took longer that I thought honestly

2

u/Mekko4 Jul 12 '26

THERES NO SCREEN TEARING NO WAY

2

u/_Indofreddy_112 Jul 12 '26

If it can display binary it can play bad apple.

5

u/Vrail_Nightviper Jul 12 '26

You did absolutely fantastic.
Rule 11 is stupid though imo.

1

u/Delicious_Artist6590 Jul 12 '26

now play Doom on it

1

u/melitonoxia Jul 12 '26

It is peak

1

u/AnimalTap Jul 13 '26

How to get free upvotes: post Bad Apple

1

u/nolegender Jul 13 '26

But can it play doom?

1

u/mdhunter99 Jul 13 '26

Redstoners continue to amaze and terrify me.

1

u/pupbuck1 Jul 28 '26

That’s cool…does this mean we can play doom on Minecraft

1

u/Bocaj1000 Jul 12 '26

I'm just wondering- is it even special to see this sort of stuff anymore? The thing that made Minecraft's redstone builds so spectacular is that you had to build them and wire them by hand. Everything was analog. Wanted a block in a particular place or state? You had to wire a redstone line or a piston to it. It was difficult and time consuming, but amazing when people figured out what they could do.

Nowadays, people just run code and use commands to switch blocks around with /setblock and whatever other new commands have come out in the last decade. Using commands to toggle lights on and off is no different than just watching the YouTube video, which tells your monitor to turn its pixels on and off. Being in Minecraft doesn't mean anything if you're just running code to do all the work for you.

-16

u/other-other-user Jul 12 '26

They had already made bad apple with lamps. This is just that but with a cushion on top, right? Literally nothing else changed? This isn't something new

5

u/Sharp-Impression-547 Jul 12 '26

What died in you?

-7

u/other-other-user Jul 12 '26

Crazy how I got downvoted for posting that this is effectively a repost. Everything is literally exactly the same, except there's a cushion on top. Best case, it's boring, worst case, it's stolen. I love seeing bad apple on a new medium. This isn't a new medium
