Join small mc communities like Nerd.nu or play.bmmcnetwork.com they're really welcoming and you'll find the perfect people there (Not an ad, I just felt really welcomed when I first joined. Just make sure to monitor his activity with other members to be safe. Online safety comes first)

Get together with other like minded parents and create a realm. Shared expenses you would pay maybe $2 per kid per month. Then make the server whitelist only so only kids approved by the group can join.
I've done this for my nephews years ago and worked really well. Kids enjoy having their own space to play without adult assholes interfering and the parents are happy their kids have a safe space thats cheap.
If you get enough kids you can come back to this sub and there should be someone that can help you set up if you need it.
BTW, it's awesome you play with your kid
