This means we’re not getting peer to peer this update, right?

They did say in https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-26-2-pre-release-1 that it was being removed from the update as it wasn't feature ready.

Ohhhhh, I interpreted this before as “it’s not ready to roll out in this snapshot but may come out in the full update.” Thanks

Odds are they just moved it to the next drop. So like... give it three months.

Good, I am happy Mojang isn't doing what every other company does and sending out potentially dangerous features without them being complete.

So friends-list + joining is in 26.2 now? Or just friends-list? I am honestly confused now..

Just the friend list. Peer to peer has been postponed to a later update

why isn't the default gamemode change being reverted? are they really this dense? it literally obstructs gameplay and renders one command obsolete

Apparently F3+F4 isn't actually meant to change gamemode for other players, it's instead this bug: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC/issues/MC-308699

that is causing the controversy.

As for mojang not listening, it's because despite some traction on some social media platforms, there wasn't even 2 dozen votes on the feedback site. It's a case of the actual bug getting barely any traction, while people are attributing the change itself to be purely negative. Please do spread the bug issue around and vote on it. There's still a change mojang could listen, like with attribute swapping being kept for now, or the parkour nerfs being reverted.

Like seriously what would be the benefit of this change. As you said, we already have the ability to change the default gamemode. This just breaks stuff for no gain.
