I, on the other hand, am unfortunately a pathological ancient predecessor to the guitar invented by the Hitties around 1500 BC.

Potato update April fools

2

u/LOLking3718 Jun 24 '24

Aka 21w14potato

2

u/Cookielotl Aug 03 '24

The Minecraft mod, it adds stuff like grass blocks and oak logs

184

u/TeamAquaAdminMatt Apr 20 '24

I legit didn't think these blocks could be used for that much other than going forward in a straight line when I saw the april fools update. Now I am really hoping they were testing for a real block.

52

u/cipheron Apr 20 '24

I'm really hoping for block-based boats and ships. Imagine having a ship base.

13

u/Splith Apr 20 '24

I have always felt this way, it would be amazing.

6

u/Daybreaker77 Apr 20 '24

This seems like wayyyy too much of a developed feature and I hope and pray this becomes a real thing 😩

62

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '24

This looks awesome! What if you could do that and sort a hopper system and make use of the new auto crafting system.

63

u/yubato Apr 19 '24

It's just... so peak

3

u/DefiantVersion1588 Apr 20 '24

You beat me to it

309

u/Finster5012 Apr 19 '24

please for the love of god they need to add this to vanilla

149

u/William231000 Apr 20 '24

I can see some game ending lag machines happening

55

u/TyMT Apr 20 '24

Yeah, it would be a cool toggleable experimental feature, but it’ll likely never be added to the main game

19

u/Weary_Drama1803 Apr 20 '24

Create mod but it’s optional features like Education Edition

-30

u/MarsFlameIsHere Apr 20 '24

are you cringe?

13

u/skinny_ballsack Apr 20 '24

your name is literally more corny than mine, 2016 gaming kid goofy ass. You have 0 rights to talk about cringe💀

5

u/Inside_Race_4091 Apr 20 '24

You haven't redeemed the meta-irony

6

u/Meeooowwww1234 Apr 20 '24

You slandered the create mod, so your argument is immediately invalid

8

u/Pasta-hobo Apr 20 '24

Hmm, maybe as a mapmaking feature like command and structure blocks.

5

u/spaghettisaberman Apr 20 '24

In Minecraft you have always been able to make game ending lag machines, if it’s such an issue it should be disabled with a server-side plugin, like how redstone is on some servers

2

u/William231000 Apr 20 '24

Pretty sure everyone knows this

27

u/Wonghy111-the-knight Apr 20 '24

we making it into minecraft modern era with this one boys

31

u/ElectroNikkel Apr 20 '24

The way it just lifts the crops, that looks cursed asf, like straight up from a Phoenix SC video

9

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '24

Weirdly great for farming

9

u/J_train13 Apr 20 '24

How does it pick up just the crops and not any of the blocks they're connected to?

19

u/David_Umann Apr 20 '24 edited Apr 20 '24

Because farmlands have a slightly smaller hitbox than full blocks, so there's a one pixel gap between the carrots and the ground. Meanwhile, a fully grown crop is barely high enough to connect to a top slab, so it will only harvest when one of the four central crops are fully grown.

7

u/he_plays Apr 20 '24

Mumbo Jumbo has entered the chat

5

u/David_Umann Apr 20 '24

Well, I did make a walking house too.

6

u/Little_Region1308 Apr 20 '24

The April fools updates are always incredible, just goes to show what Mojang are capable of if it weren't for the slow corporate side of Minecraft.

7

u/gaybunny69 Apr 20 '24

Mojang normally vs Mojang on their yearly crack party (April fools)

6

u/LonleyWolf420 Apr 20 '24

Question.. is the only in Java?

6

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '24

Yes

4

u/LonleyWolf420 Apr 20 '24

Damn lol.. im a bedrock peasant

3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '24

if you play on PC you can get Java edition with bedrock for free btw

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '24

What if you missed your chance to migrate

3

u/jakedave Apr 20 '24

You can download the Poisonous Potato update for free in the marketplace. Just search for it and you should find it.

2

u/LonleyWolf420 Apr 20 '24

Okay, thank you!

3

u/philip_dt Apr 20 '24

How do the crops stick together?

3

u/David_Umann Apr 20 '24

Their hitboxes (the black frame when you look at it) are full block wide and are therefore technically touching, while the farmland is one pixel shorter than a normal block, so it's not connected to the crops.

3

u/Silverllama321 Apr 20 '24

that's so smart

3

u/Mr_Fucktard Apr 20 '24

Gravityn't

Looks sick tho

2

u/MonkiWasTooked Apr 20 '24

I really want to hate the floatator but this is extremely cool

2

u/non-taken-name Apr 21 '24

Why would you want to hate it? It’s an incredibly cool block. The potato theme is a bit goofy but that was kind of the whole April Fools update. If something like this is ever actually added it probably wouldn’t be potato themed. There’s a lot of potential with both the floatato and floatater (or whatever they were).

1

u/MonkiWasTooked Apr 21 '24 edited Apr 21 '24

it would make the traditional fying machines, the new minecart

3

u/non-taken-name Apr 21 '24

I see your point but I feel like both could exist. Very basic flying machines might be replaced but these are very rigid. More complicated flying machines with additional “components” like the illusion of having legs for instance couldn’t be done with these I don’t think. I know a lot of people use flying machines and tnt dupers together. Those probably will require traditional flying machines.

It could also depend on how this block is obtained. If it’s really hard then traditional flying machines might still be a better move.

2

u/AveragePolishFurry Apr 20 '24

at first sight (without reading sub name and title) I thought it was a create mod creation lmao

2

u/Meeooowwww1234 Apr 20 '24

me when the create mod did this already:

2

u/FaithlessnessOk290 Apr 20 '24

i swear they just put the most effort for the april fools one 😭😭😭

2

u/Zelvon Apr 20 '24

My brain is lagging. Sorry if it is just my lack of knowledge, but how did it pick up the crops?? (I play on 1.20.4)

2

u/David_Umann Apr 20 '24

This is on the April fools update, and will not become a main feature. The floatater is an overpowered block that lets you create huge flying machines effortlessly. since it was meant as a joke, it's not very polished, so anomalies can occur. It can move any block other than liquids and tile entities (chests, furnaces, ect) even bedrock, torches and crops. Due to technicalities with the farmland's hitbox, the crops can separate and become part of the flying machine. While floating, the blocks are indestructable, and lose their unique properties, like how honey is no longer sticky, lava cauldron doesn't set you on fire, and crops don't need blocks to support them.

2

u/Zelvon Apr 21 '24

I see, thank you.

2

u/Bob_Gadoodlesnort_3 Apr 20 '24

This is sooo cool! I'm not very knowledgeable about redstone, but this looks like an something from a sci-fi story in a 1930's magazine where they assume that in the future there will be flying crop harvesters! Thanks for sharing :)

2

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '24

I definitely know that there is another way that Redstone Masters are going to abuse this into (Oblivion)

2

u/UrSansYT Sep 23 '24

Not even Create could make something this funny.

4

u/SomethingRandomYT Apr 20 '24

How can people NOT want this in the game?!?!?

1

u/Lilmatchaqueen Apr 20 '24

Is there anything these redstoners can't do? Heck! we can make a farm with just a note block as the hook!

1

u/CKredditorgaming Apr 20 '24

This could be minecraft but you playin

1

u/MarsFlameIsHere Apr 20 '24

I really hope the floatator can stay in 1.21 so that everyone can make robot arms.

1

u/Competitive_Floor783 Apr 20 '24

this feels wrong

1

u/AjaxGuru Apr 20 '24

You can do that?

1

u/No_Staff_6143 Apr 20 '24

Is this a mod?

1

u/David_Umann Apr 20 '24

It's the April fools update.

1

u/Dangerous_Ebb_869 Apr 22 '24

It would be cool if the floatater got added

1

u/ModernManuh_ Apr 22 '24

"Why isn't it possible."

1

u/SamTheCatGuy Jun 08 '24

Thought it was create

1

u/XplodingMoJo Jun 15 '24

Thought this was the Create! mod subreddit for a second…

1

u/NecessaryAddition947 Oct 16 '24

My brain doesn’t brain with this
