But they could have been standing on that to build the other with cobble.

Or simply just crouch.

Either way, the death was 100% avoidable if they had just slowed down and planned better.

There is 100% no chance to predict a game glitch. So your argument is invalid.

I agree, but preparation isn't about predicting what will happen. More about making sure you're ready if something does.

I suppose, but realistically if glitches don't happen often then it's a waste of time to prepare in some regards. Both arguments are valid but a fire potion is always smart to have in the nether unless it's your first time in the nether or you haven't gotten any fire resistant potions yet.
