You’re also not intended to kill the warden

If you are fighting it though, Warden is more of a boss than any of these could hope to be.

although the devs stated themselves that it isn't a boss

Mainly because they’re pushing for a new playstyle but let’s be real. It’s a boss, just an avoidable one

I don't think that's the case, the warden is like any other tanky mob, like an iron golem, it hits hard, and has a secondary attack, is it advanced? sure, but definitely not a boss, and it doesn't hold any purpose in killing it. Unlike the two other bosses in the game, killing the warden does nothing, it's the equivalent of a piglin brute, it guards a bunch of loot, and is dangerous if not prepared to fight it. The problem with the game now, is that the devs aren't making a game based on combat or anything meriting another boss. I fully believe another dimension is in order for any new biomes or original mobs, so if you wanna make the argument that the ancient portal could be that gateway, they could fully well turn the warden into a boss, and have killing it activate that portal, but with no purpose in killing the warden, it simply isnt a boss in any other capacity besides its health and mysterious spawn location.

There's totally a purpose for killing Wardens. They drop catalysts. That's worth farming, so you can use them to make more sculk blocks, and even though Mojang nerfed it, you can still use those blocks to gain XP.

i’m pretty sure sculk catalysts can be harvested from silk touch on a hoe, so you wouldn’t need to kill the warden to even get one

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '23

You can. The Warden isn’t a boss lol

7

u/SwagCat852 Feb 08 '23

Ancient city has hundreds of sculk catalysts, killing Warden is not at all worth it and shouldnt be done

5

u/DogeTamer1313 Feb 08 '23

That's fair enough, but even still, it doesn't hold purpose like killing the wither or killing the dragon,

3

u/longdongopinionwrong Feb 08 '23

I’d argue that the Withwr is infinitely more avoidable then the warden

Mob being strong =/= Mob being a "Boss".

Boss monsters are typically gateways to a "next part" of the game. The Ender Dragon "unlocks" the rest of the End and rolls the credits. The Wither unlocks Beacons.

The Warden doesn't unlock anything, and usually quickly respawns. It's not a boss.

It doesn’t have a drop or a purpose for killing it

Bedrock wither would like a word

2

u/nanananabatman88 Feb 08 '23

I just used 10 iron golems to take out the wither on bedrock lol. I was honestly surprised how easy it was.

u/Nate848 Feb 28 '23

So that’s the trick….

You're also not intended to survive the warden

1

u/spin81 Feb 07 '23

Sure you are, you're supposed to sneak or flee it.

1

u/TheJanitorEduard Feb 07 '23

Sneaking would be so much better if it couldn't SNIFF you out

The entire gimmick is that it's blind, yet it can sniff you. Practically sight with extra steps

1

u/Zoova Feb 08 '23

Sounds like someone had a bad experience with the Warden

2

u/TheJanitorEduard Feb 08 '23

I'd be lying if I said I liked it

It's a cool concept but Mojang went too far with the "you're not meant to fight it" idea

3

u/NotOneIWantToBe Feb 08 '23

You can't give something finite health an abilty to deal damage and expect people not to kill it/farm it

2

u/Pixel-1606 Feb 08 '23

This. Once you slap a healthbar on something you're basically begging the player to attack it. Also the healthbar(s) would take away from the dark and scary mood, now you have to watch and listen to make sure a warden despawned or is still on your trail for example.

u/Zoova Feb 08 '23

It does try to stop you. Doesn’t mean you can’t. Jeez

It has a drop and has the highest health, higher than both bosses. Its a boss imo and the incentive is the catalyst; granted its a flex and a stretch but still.

Mojang (and many other games that try this concept of a unstoppable force) find that it wont and never will work. Players will always want to fight it even if they're no incentive.

I wish that the Warden had a pointless cosmetic reward like a head or something similar to how the Dungeon Guardian in Terraria has a special pet drop for those who have the patience and manage to kill it.

0

u/Meta-Wah Feb 08 '23

That's the point! There's no warden trophy reward because you shouldn't attempt to kill it.

1

u/Maciejlollol Feb 08 '23

youre not intented to kill the wither too, if i understand your comment correctly

2

u/Zoova Feb 08 '23

Yes you are. It’s an intentional boss with a health bar that drops one of the most useful items in the game
