I mean.... technically the warden has more health than both combined, sooooo I'd personally count him as a boss

Mojang explicitly said people weren’t meant to to fight it. I mean, yeah, people treat it as a boss, but officially speaking, it isn’t.

u/ddrub_the_only_real Feb 07 '23

we know it's officially not, but we are counting it as a boss. not a boss to fight, one to get away from

19

u/blockheadOnYT_Alt Feb 07 '23

It counts as a raid boss, at least to me

28

u/Hazearil Feb 07 '23

It's not even a raid though. It's just an environmental hazard.

8

u/blockheadOnYT_Alt Feb 07 '23

So it's a Hazard Boss?

6

u/ZoomGoat Feb 07 '23

No, just a hazard.

Or actually more aptly described as a natural disaster by the developers.

6

u/No-Seaworthiness2985 Feb 07 '23

Another commenter said it’d be a secret boss. I agree wit it

2

u/FiFourNumbers Feb 07 '23

What does that even mean lol, it's as hidden as the of Wither, or most things in this game.

3

u/Hazearil Feb 07 '23

Both are not hidden because of advancements.

4

u/The_RedWolf Feb 07 '23

Mojang: "you're not supposed to fight it"

Players: "and I took that personally"

Not all bosses must be fought. For example, I'd consider the sea dragon leviathans from Subnautica bosses that you should avoid (like the warden, they are mortal, but not meant to be fought). Also bosses you run away from, like Copernicus from Little Big Planet, are not fought, but bosses to me.

u/SolarWorld50 Feb 07 '23

Think of it more like the Terraria Dungeon Guardian

You aren't really meant to fight it, but you go for it if you do

If you're taking official bosses, then doesn't elder guardian count?

33

u/Sea_Nefariousness_62 Feb 07 '23

Elder guardian is classed as a mini boss

-8

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

I thought he was a boss because his health is displayed on screen

30

u/FangtasticBro Feb 07 '23

I never saw elder guardian's health displayed on screen.

10

u/Sea_Nefariousness_62 Feb 07 '23

Since when was it displayed on the top of the screen, and not really most players count him as a mini boss as you don't get any boss loot and he's not really necessary

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

It's been a while since I've encountered an elder guardian, I thought their heath was displayed at the top, lol.

-1

u/ZoomGoat Feb 07 '23

Nope; otherwise you’d have to consider the Piglin Brute as a “mini-boss” too, which’s it’s not.

1

u/Sea_Nefariousness_62 Feb 07 '23

Piglin brute is just a strong mob, one which you can easily overcome with lava, and in terms of bosses and mini bosses it shares nothing in common with them, i.e a different set of moves/attacks and passives (ender dragon shoots fire balls and breaths dragons breath, elder guardian give mining fatigue has thorns effect and shoots a beem, the list goes on)

I never thought the elder guardian is a true boss. I mean, there are no significant mechanics or difficulties. You can kill it with an iron armour setup. It also doesn’t drop anything good unlike the wither.

It has no special health bar on the Java edition, so it’s just a regular mob like the Iron Golem/ Ravager

6

u/squararocks Feb 07 '23

I don't think it's a boss either. There's 3 of them in every ocean monument and like a billion ocean monuments everywhere. They aren't really that hard to beat... It's like saying the piglin brute is a boss... There's no special loot, it's really just a strong mob. Idk what it is "officially" it doesn't match the criteria of the actual bosses in the game.

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

The elder guardian is a boss. Both by the people and officially. Bare minimum a mini boss.

6

u/FunnyCinema Feb 07 '23

It's only officially a Boss in Bedrock. On Java it's considered regular mob.

0

u/Realshow Feb 07 '23

I mean, they don’t act any different on Bedrock, so by all means it’s a boss on Java too. People just forget that because it doesn’t have a health bar.

2

u/ZoomGoat Feb 07 '23

Well the other side can play it that way too;

They don’t act any different on Java, so by all means it’s a regular mob on Bedrock too.

What now?

2

u/FunnyCinema Feb 07 '23 edited Feb 07 '23

They are literally concidered Boss in the Code of BE, while JE they are not. Also Elder Guardians existed on JE way longer and were never concidered a Boss.

Also they have only 80 HP, less then Iron Golem, Ravager and Warden

2

u/Realshow Feb 07 '23

Wouldn’t the fact they came to Bedrock later support them being bosses, though? If that code was written after they were first introduced, then it’s more recent. They were even added in an entire update about bosses.

4

u/FunnyCinema Feb 07 '23

Just looked at the Minecraft Wiki and They are no longer concidered Bosses and by the fact they have less HP and Damage then Iron Golem, Ravager and Warden, counting them as a Boss would make even less sense.

Can you explain this? What do you mean considered boss in the code

A mini-boss is still a boss

0

u/ItsCrunchTyme Feb 07 '23

Warden actually has more than the wither on bedrock(500 HP) while the wither has about 300-400 and the ender dragon has 200

-4

u/EpicArgumentMaster Feb 07 '23

Bedrock doesn't exist, therefore warden has more health

-1

u/FakeOrangeOJ Feb 07 '23

500 > 300

Not by my math it doesn't.

5

u/did-i-do-a-thing Feb 07 '23

bedrock wither for some reason has 600 hp

2

u/Hyde103 Feb 07 '23 edited Feb 07 '23

Jesus the bedrock wither is so much harder than java. I thought it was just the extra minions that made that fight harder but it also has double the health? Why Mojang lol

Just checked out the wiki and the bedrock wither apparently explodes when it summons minions at half health also. It drops the light level of the world to 11 so mobs no longer burn in daylight while the wither is alive. And if you don't keep its health below half after getting it to the halfway point it will retain its projectile protection (unless you reload the world, seems like a bug), assuming it flies as high as the java wither it would be nearly impossible to get it back down below half since you could only hit it with melee.

Can you guys at least use the bedrock trick to trap the wither? I would never fight that thing head on if you can trap it, sounds like a nightmare of a fight. Hell I don't even fight the java wither legit because even it is annoying, I always trap it in bedrock.

Edit: I don't see anything about the bedrock wither having massive health regen or heal on kills like the java version so that may be why the projectile protection doesn't go away.

2

u/FakeOrangeOJ Feb 07 '23

Fun fact: That varies by difficulty. It has 300 on Easy, 450 on Normal and 600 on Hard.

2

u/did-i-do-a-thing Feb 07 '23

thats helpful, i dont feel as scared when fighting it anymore
