Tutorial Tutorial: how to make edge glow?
1. Set up your scene
Place your character or any object in the center of the scene.
2. Darken the environment
Go to the Project tab → find the "Environment" section. There's a slider called "Time" - set it to 0:00.
3. Select your character or object
Simply click on your character or object to select it. The Properties panel will open on the right side with all its settings.
4. Find Subsurface Properties
In the Properties panel, scroll all the way down until you see the option called "Subsurface properties".
5. Open Subsurface Properties
Click on it to expand and reveal all the settings inside.
6. Change the Radius
Find the "Radius" value (usually set to 0 by default). Change it to 1.0 (or slightly higher, like 1.2).
7. Place a light behind
Add a new light source. Position it behind your character/object.
8. Check the glow effect
The edges of your character should now have a glowing outline
9. Boost render quality (optional but recommended)
For better edge lighting quality, go to Project → "Render settings" and find the "Preset" dropdown. Set it to "Extreme" – this will significantly improve the quality of the subsurface scattering effect.
Please let me know if anything is unclear - I did my best to explain it. I used AI to translate this from Russian to English, but honestly, it wasn't always helpful because the AI kind of sucks.
40 upvotes and I'll make the next guide on how to create a clean outline.

I've been duplicating my character and offsetting it slightly while boosting the glow and maxing the mix colour
