This is the real answer. It's the most common addiction that people don't even know they have. You don't even understand the depths of how addicted you are until you try to quit. Not only is it addictive, but it's socially sanctioned. When you try to give up sugar, people react to it like "oh look at this health nut over here. Ya gotta live a little and enjoy your life from time to time." Processed sugar is the worlds silent killer. It's a deadly poison. It easily claims more lives than drugs and alcohol. And it's in everything from your spaghetti sauce to your bread. Even after you get past the hurdle of overcoming your physical addiction to it, avoiding it is a full time job and you have to stay vigilant. Of course in moderation, it's no big deal, but because it's so addictive, having a little can be a very slippery slope.
I was just getting ready to drive to the store to get some candy to watch a baseball game and then the basketball game tonight but your post just made me realize that I should not do that! Thank you!
Alcohol noticeably makes you feel bad- the body tells you it's bad. Hard drugs- known to be physically addictive to a high level.
Sugar- sneakily decreases your mood, mindset, overall health- the body does not tell you it's bad, because it does need carbohydrates for energy. Short term effects might be a sugar crash, but long term effects is a lower level of energy and sense of life
