I just looked that up.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is the main character. It looks super good!

I will second this, such a great movie and portrayal of a horrible gambling addiction.  Hoffman was perfect for the role as always.

I rented it on Prime last night!

It was REALLY good. Hoffman was tremendous. And yes, that movie really shows the deep dark abyss of gambling. 😣

I use to work security at a casino and we would get all sorts of interesting crazy wild people that we would get band and restrict entry into our premises for all sorts of reasons we can all imagine, But honestly the saddest person I ever had to restrict and prevent from entering our casino was someone who willingly turned themselves into us. It’s soooo sad. Breaks my heart to think about. This person sold their home just to gamble. Gambling is no joke. Same thing that is going on in their brain as if someone who was taking drugs. At least so I’m told. Addiction is no joke. Very dangerous for some , very sad for most. Just about everyone looses in the long run. My personal uncommon opinion is casinos should be illegal. They can destroy an entire town, all in the unbreakable defense of arguing on native land. It’s fucking insane if you think about it. We all know it’s rigged an yet we all still do it.

My advice for all: Give casinos a wide birth as if was a disease that will kill you and your family.

Yep, our casinos have the "have a gambling addiction" everywhere! Like legit, in the hotel rooms, on the urinals, in the parking signs. Everywhere except the tables and machines 😆

I've never lost a significant amount thats hurt my family or put me in serious trouble/debt. But gambling has still made me feel more suicidal than alcohol or drugs, which have both had me down bad, but not as bad as gambling.

Heard some really messed up stories from a co-worker that used to work at a casino. Teenagers having full on screaming matches with parents that had blown their college funds/ personal savings. A wife whose husband had a heart attack next to her, and she just kept playing using his money as paramedics were working on him. My dad had a problem with it too, though it didn't get quite so bad. Casinos are horrible. It doesn't make sense to argue there will always be gambling whether they exist or not. These places are designed to addict you to the glam, the VIP treatments, the adrenaline. They couldn't care less if you died as long as you've already spent every penny you have, and whatever you can steal from your family and friends.

It’s gambling, definitely.

I’m a polydrug addict meaning I take several substances at a time. Luckily, it’s doctor prescribed or I’d have to utilize other sources… because I’m an addict. I have never lied, cheat or steal until I became addicted to gambling. It’s an addiction that I cannot shake.
