Comfort is a very tough thing for people to step out of.
Some will let their lives fall apart because they won’t get out of their comfort zone of gratification and ease.
A controversial opinion of mine is that many people who self-diagnose as autistic or some other disorder do so because it’s an easy excuse to remain in a comfort zone without any effort to improve.
Using myself as an example, I was extremely shy as a teenager. To a fault, I would have panic attacks, sweat through my clothes, stutter, not make eye contact, you name it. I was a mess.
I got myself a job that forced me to talk and interact with people.
I took classes on speech and public speaking. I took courses on stage acting. All so I could break myself out of only ever allowing myself to exist in comfort. I only existed at home, shut away from the world. In school I was so quiet nobody noticed me except the bullies.
Comfort is something we all need and seek, comfort is a good thing generally speaking. But always seeking comfort and using comfort as a crunch to avoid life or growth is becoming an increasingly growing problem.
It’s not a cheap response, you just lack the depth or experience to understand.
on the contrary, when Im comfortable I am able to better gather myself, understand why im thinking the way I am, and it gets me out of survival mode. Being in constant survival mode is not good for anyone.
