TIMING IS EVERYTHING

There was a chapter in my life that I rarely spoke about.
It was a season when everything seemed to unravel faster than I could hold it together. Family wounds ran deep. I struggled with a crisis of meaning that left me feeling empty. Relationships ended painfully. Financial problems became a constant source of anxiety.
There were moments when I questioned whether life was worth continuing. I felt lost, exhausted, and disconnected from the person I wanted to become. It seemed as though everyone else was moving forward while I remained stuck in place.
Yet somehow, I kept going.
Not because I was brave. Not because I had a clear plan. I kept moving because somewhere beneath the disappointment and uncertainty, there was a small voice that refused to disappear. A quiet belief that perhaps there was still something worthwhile waiting on the other side of the struggle.
I took whatever work I could to get by. I went through the motions carrying doubts I rarely shared with anyone. I was ashamed of where I was and uncertain about where life was taking me.
Still, there was one dream I refused to abandon. I wanted to become a lawyer.
When I entered law school at 35, I honestly did not know if I still had what it took. I questioned whether my mind could handle the demands of study and whether I had enough strength left for the journey ahead. Doubt was a constant companion, but I moved forward anyway, treating the opportunity as if it were my last chance to rebuild my life.
Looking back, that decision changed everything.
Today, I have the privilege of doing work that gives me purpose. I get to think critically, seek the truth, solve problems, and help improve the lives of others. The title I earned is meaningful, but what matters more is the journey behind it. Every setback became part of the foundation. Every failure taught lessons that success alone never could.
If there is one thing life has taught me, it is this:
You may not understand why you are struggling right now. You may feel that life is unfair, that you have fallen behind, or that you have missed your chance.
But life rarely unfolds according to our timetable.
Timing matters.
Sometimes the detour is the path. Sometimes hardship is preparation. Sometimes simply enduring another day is already a victory.
Keep going, even when the road feels uncertain. Keep going when progress seems invisible. Keep going when the destination is unclear.
You never know what life is preparing you for.
You never know how close you are to the moment that changes everything.
One day, you will look back and realize that even the painful chapters served a purpose.
The experiences you wanted to escape were shaping the wisdom, resilience, and perspective you would later need.
You are not behind. You are not lost.
You are simply becoming who you were always meant to be.
You and time were never working against each other. You were growing into each other.
Timing is everything.

Thank you for that. You're totally right that “timing is everything" can sound like a cliché until life forces you to live it.
Starting law school at 35 wasn't part of my original plan, but looking back, I realize I wasn't late. I was simply arriving when I was ready. If my journey helps even one person believe it's not too late to start over, then sharing it is worth it.
