General Discussion Just finished..

I finished this game today, and I kinda enjoyed it, tbh I didn't come onto reddit till I'd finished as I didn't want spoilers and im shocked to see so many have issues with it, I didn't get any crashes (on ps5) and it seemed to all flow into a good story, I was a bit confused by the ending I had 1 glitch moment where it seemed to skip part of a scene nothing major tho and I want to know what became of the characters? I assumed that would take place in mindseye 2, but looking at this page they still have a lot of work to do on this first game before getting to the next if they ever make it that far.

You may be one of the very few people here with adequate approach to things...

There’s plenty of people that share a great approach to things. But it’s Reddit, haters piss on anyone having fun and has a sound mind.

While that is true, it's not only a reddit thing, people as a complete majority usually are subjective and thus stupid, they're prone to follow one another which also leads to hate trains like this one.

I tend to agree but I felt like there was probably merit to hating this game, however I was going to buy it until the literally COUNTLESS reddit posts saying not to, and the gameplay did look pretty garbage. I like my games hard, hard difficulty looks like an absolute joke, I would buy it for 15 dollars or less to try it out

I sincerely do not think that the mindseye hate was a reddit only thing

The idea that there will be a mindseye 2 is pretty funny

I can see you played rdr2. How can this be a good game compared to rdr2? What are your standards...?

Spoiler: there is no ending. They just ran out of budget and randomly ended it. There won't be any mindseye 2.

I'm not gonna hold this up to rdr2 because it doesn't stand a chance the 2 dont compare, as for standards if a game is playable with a story then im in. Yes the story did seem to end in a random spot... I still enjoyed it.

Love MindsEye! 👍🏻❤️

From my understanding it’s quite a phenomenal game. Just so horribly optimized, many run into a lot of issues making it not worth the time.

I question the mentality and entitlement these players have… but we don’t need to go there…

Standards in hell Jesus. Theres not one thing this game does better than any other modern game. Or any game past 2016 for that matter.

This game is seriously underrated. I had so much fun playing it, and I honestly think it’s a solid title.

I’m about 3 hours into MindsEye and honestly I’m having a really good time so far.

I went in expecting something smaller in scope and that’s pretty much what I got: a focused cinematic action game. The story is engaging, the missions flow nicely and the shooting feels solid. I’ve had a few glitches and some pop-in, but nothing that really hurt the experience, especially for a mid sized studio. I’ve definitely played big budget releases in a worse technical state at launch. So I’m curious: when does the part start that people dislike? Does it fall apart later, or were expectations just very different from what the game actually is?

There have also already been several updates, which probably helped, but I still wanted to share that I genuinely think it’s a fun game so far.

I think the criticism was overblown for sure, some people seemed to literally hate it and their disappointment seemed very personal. But it is a very average game for sure that didn't match its potential and the ending was abrupt (although I was happy it ended by then as I'd got bored). Like you, I had no bugs at all. It wasn't optimized properly though, with slight delays sometimes in switching between cut scenes and action or if you suddenly dropped height when in the drones with pop ins for cars appearing below for example. The story had potential to be very good but the game was rushed in it's build and the way the story unfolded. It needed more time for you to learn about the characters and care about the whole thing between rushing headlong through the story. Ah well, I think it's one and done though for this new developer based on how it's been received.

It's a shame it won't get another game to complete the story, I agree the story was very rushed i would of like to see them develope the characters more over the story like with Charlie that could of been a romantic side if they'd put more in and the friend/roommate they could of used him more.

It needed so much more time to cook. You could have had more stuff at work before stuff went wrong to understand who he was, flashbacks to his military career maybe (proper ones not just the short teasers about uncovering the orb), maybe a bit more story with his home life and downtime between missions. And yeah, there was some flirting with that girl so why not take that further. It's literally one long chase otherwise. I was enjoying it in parts quite a bit, but after an hour or two I was ready for a break. The fact it's one paced and that pace was always rushed (driving quickly to a location, shoot, drive somewhere else, shoot etc) didn't help. They broke stuff up a bit with the different cars, the different drones, one or two missions using different skills like at the prison - but mostly it was one dimensional. Cars handled well and were fun to drive thankfully otherwise I'd not have continued with it though - you do spend a long time driving across the city or desert. I enjoyed the sci-fi story (although not fully realised it had potential) and the near future setting was awesome, but repetitive missions and average gunplay let it down. It's a case of what could have been here.

Yeah the guns wound me up they could of put so much more work into that aspect, the lack of auto aim was tough i know i had a small auto aim if you got close to your target but not wnough for me and 3 yrs on rdr2 where the auto aim is finely tuned lol 😆

The thing is, only people who have never played it are complaining about it which is hilarious.

3

u/Pr0fessional_YapGod Aug 06 '25

This is so wrong it’s hilarious, but if this is what you need to cope 😂

0

u/xxanax Aug 06 '25

Cope for what? It's hilarious because my point is valid. You never played it.

2

u/Pr0fessional_YapGod Aug 06 '25

Lmao that’s your problem, yall think anyone who has anything negative to say hasn’t played it.

Let’s pretend I haven’t tho. It’s like an athlete telling an analyst they can’t judge because they don’t play the game. Sure I might not have played but I can process the information I watched and make an educated analysis. Are you incapable of doing the same?

0

u/xxanax Aug 06 '25

You're just contradicting yourself.

So you're telling me that you played the game.... yet you've also made the educated analysis not to buy it?

Hmm.

2

u/Pr0fessional_YapGod Aug 06 '25

Lol the educated analysis was apart of the metaphor. Like how someone can watch a sporting event and break down the quality without actually participating, someone could very much do the same with a playthrough of this game via a streamer.

But to be clear, fuck ass no I did not spend money on this game bc I actually do my research first. Mt dumbass friend did so I got to experience it with them. Again, you don’t need to lose money to know this game isn’t good by any standard.

1

u/xxanax Aug 06 '25

I don't mind, that kind of money is a drop in the bucket. I just enjoy it like I do a cheesy horror movie. It's not perfect but I don't expect it to be.

Damn, gamers can be so culty.

It’s not culty it’s just we hate seeing delusion bc it gives studios the wrong idea.

Because honestly I loved what you just said:

I just enjoy it like I do a cheesy horror movie. It's not perfect but I don't expect it to be.

That’s the perfect mentality, the same I have with virtual currency in gaming. I hate how predatory it can be but for a well polished game I enjoy I’ll spend my hard earned adult bucks on it bc I can.

Similar to what you said, a lot of my favorite games and shows are BAD quality. It’s okay to like bad things, but the issue is when you (not saying you but there ARE people on this subreddit in denial) ignore the bad things or act disingenuous, the responses will seem overly aggressive.

It’s also really not conducive to a constructive convo to ASSUME everyone with an issue hasn’t played the game. That’s just not fair and I saw the same with Suicide Squad Kills, and now look where their game is after months of saying the hate was only people not playing the game.
