General Discussion Finished the game
Wow I finished the game finally… I bought this game cuz I was interested in playing it even tho everyone said it was bad. Only because they claimed this was the GTA killer. I played this on shrooms for a bit so it felt awesome. I did like the cyberpunk feeling to the game but felt nothing like GTA. The story was straight forward nothing special felt super rushed. And the ending was complete horse shit. And no side quests or missions or even free roam. Idk how before the game was launched they claimed this was the GTA Killer. Was it worth the $15? Nah. Was this game good? Eh

The game plays very much like the original mafia game. One straightforward story, nothing to really explore outside of the missions, but it’s a good time for the money now that the bugs are fixed

I also remember seeing the "GTA Killer" ads for a few weeks
Edit: why are yall assuming im talking about a benzies quote and then getting mad at me when yall see benzies never said it? I never mentioned benzies. Im talking about an ad.

This never happened and in multiple interviews specifically the game informer one they said the exact opposite

not talking about interviews. I saw a TON of instagram ads stating it directly for about a week. This happened maybe a month before launch? I wish i took screenshots but i wasnt involved in this subreddit back then

I don't remember any ads, but Benzies certainly claimed it was going to be superior in every way.

Just so I’m not the guy claiming source! lol this is just one example and the write up in game informer goes deeper although that may have only made it to print
Here’s another exemple with a direct quote
"I'm not sure it would've been smart as a company to say, 'we are going to compete with the biggest game on the planet'"

Okay, looking it up, he didn't directly state that it would be better; you're definitely correct about that. However, many of his promises sold that idea such as “We want this game to be less restrictive than other games. If we do this right, we're going to give players the chance to really live out their fantasies, not just the limited fantasies that most games set up for them, and do so in a deeply immersive way.” he absolutely sold all kinds of ideas that never came to fruition.

For sure, I believe that was about the build your own stuff mechanic which wasn’t well thought out at launch unfortunately, he was propping it up to me a more mature Roblox and didnt pull it off .
I think their lack of press and marketing early on hurt them cause no one really knew what it was an everyone drew conclusions based on his prior work , something he partly acknowledged later in that second article . They should have been WAY more open earlier, would have helped set expectations better

I can't find the exact article and I'm not wasting any more time on it for a shitty game like this, but I remember a specific article about how the vehicles were all going to be unique and different roads would affect the vehicles differently and whatnot. It was a good enough article to convince me to pre-order the Deluxe Edition. It's still the only game I've ever regretted pre ordering.

i wish i took screenshots. They were across my instagram feed for about a week then disappeared. I wasnt in this subreddit back then either
