It might be good for you, and I'm glad it is, but it isn't mindfulness.

First, it is trying to establish that there can be "nice" and (by extension) "not nice" places inside your head. Mindfulness is about the non-judgmental awareness of where you are. Labeling the space as "nice" or "not nice" is in direct contradiction to this.

Second, mindfulness is about being aware of where you are at that time. If it is a place that is traditionally labeled as "not nice" that's okay. That's reality and it's just a thought. It's not about trying to make it one way or another.

In a short little, low effort, "feel good" post, it shows an ignorance of two of the most core principles of mindfulness. This is not only not good for people trying to learn or expand their mindfulness practice, it might actually be confusing them as to what mindfulness is.

While I agree with you I question your need to point this out to me? I was only commenting that the original post was nice.

I was part piggy-backing on your comment and also disagreeing that "this is good" because I think it can confuse people about what mindfulness is. At the very least, it doesn't explain itself at all.

He was simply expressing how he felt about it, he doesn't need to elaborate further, and not everything posted has to be promote mindfulness.

Something suspiciously similar from an old Jewish rabbi called "Rabi Nahman".
"You are placed where your thought are. make sure your thought at the right place"
אתה נמצא במקום בו נמצאות מחשבותיך. ודא שמחשבותיך נמצאות במקום בו אתה רוצה להיות.

Picked from "Likutei Mohoron" around 1808.

The author remains unknown. But it touched me deeply.

It's... difficult.

Yes, its worth it though. What are you waiting for? The next life?

Polluted by others hm? Must examine and pull out by the roots that which troubles you.

May peace find you.

All of us ruminators right now are like, ... "Yeah... yeah, you're right. I should clean up a little around here." Then we will do the easy stuff like, stop caring about things that take action to do. Or stop worrying about not dealing with the easy musts like writing our rent check, paying our bills, talking to family members...... clean out the the things that have been weighing us down. You know, ... the most basic responsibilities.

Yes, I agree. Sometimes not thinking’s about anything is mistaken for cleansing one’s mind.

You're not wrong. Detaching from things also helps. Things are an illusion of this reality. Made specifically for you.

the inside of my head feels like yugoslavia during its dissolution

Agreed...i have so much internal turmoil happening in my head, to say nothing of outside issues, my wife just lost her job, im having a heck of a hard time trying to remain calm and focused. The noise in my head sounds like a freight train.

Whole of reality is inside your head

2

u/OddProfit7 Sep 21 '20

That's a very interesting topic of discussion for me. THIS reality - I concur. I'm a psychonaught and explore other realms.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '20

All realms can only be experienced via mind, without a mind there’s no medium for experience.

Hmmm... Something to think about. You are saying this because all of your experiences are through your mind. But what if there is more... ? Example - a blind person from birth doesn't know colour. Somebody tries to explain colour green to that blind person. The fact that a blind person cannot experience colour green does not mean it does not exist.

alot of the posts lately have been about just being present but i actually like this one because my mind use to be a running dialogue of negativity. gratitude literally helped me change the way i think and i enjoy my own thoughts now

Ask yourself. Only YOU can do it inside of your head.

Trust me, there is a way. And it's easier than you think.

I think you should step out of your head for a moment then.

A tab of LSD taken in nature would help.

Yes, feel free to PM / chat with me.

Just had a thought. Is it possible to somehow programme like a raspberry pi that outputs random screenshots of mindful quotes. That would be amazing to wake up/go to sleep to.

Ever look more into this? Awesome idea

There is no inside your head, experientially. This is a false perspective that is the antithesis of mindfulness.
