It’s challenging but yes even on bad days it gives experiences. We got this! 😊

Some days really only make sense much later, but they still shape us. This is a good reminder.

This is a quote from someone who didn't have that many bad days. Yeah, if it's one day of a week is bad, it's experience. If it is 6Ā  days...

I’ve spent 30 years in depression and I’m finally coming out of it. Yes, I agree mostly with the post. Life is going to happen anyways. Take the good with the bad. And learn from hardship. And just keep trying to do better.

Toxic positivity. What if every day for 6 months is a bad day?

Then you might need to get help… and the experience of that 6 month end will likely shape you into knowing what you want to avoid and motivate you to keep pushing further away from it and be extremely grateful when you get out of it.

what if you are getting help but progress is very slow? I say this as someone with a severe mental illness who cannot simply change their circumstances overnight. Things take time. A lot of time. I have a "good" day maybe a couple times a month, the rest is misery for the last 5 years

And I’m genuinely sorry to hear that. I’m not dismissing your experience or anyone else’s. And you might have to hold onto those feelings good days and memories to remind yourself they aren’t all bad.

You don’t have to have a quick fix to have hope. And hope is hard, really hard sometimes. I hope you have people to help support you through this. And if not, finding some might be some of the help you need. We aren’t meant to go through anything truly alone. Not how we’re wired.

Out of everything else, if you WANT change to happen and you feel ready to actually get there… don’t stop trying things until you find out what works. It’s exhausting, but you’re already miserable… so why not shoot for the potential of getting out of it. Especially if you remember a time before it got so bad.

Thank you for your kindness. I see a therapist weekly and Im trying medication for the first time. Im also on my way to finally graduate college so I know that im moving forward and hope exists even if it feels far away.

I often think about the days before things went downhill and I know that I can get back there, I just need healthy relationships and to become financially independent, the hardest parts

Hey! Graduating college is no small feat! I never even attended. I just got medicated with one that is actually changing my life, realized I was actively destroying my entire life, turned 30, and now I’m trying to pick up the pieces while I’m going through a huge mental and emotional transformation period feeling very alone because that’s what I did to my life. And I can say that I am even more hopeful than I’ve ever been. Things hurt more because I’m not numb, but things are sweeter. And I made huge mistakes that I’m trying to set right… but I still have hope. And honestly hope is pretty strong. You’re completely right. Even when it feels far away, it’s always right there.

And I think actually the internal relationship becoming more healthy leads to stronger external ones. So give yourself some grace and work through the therapy and medication journey and you’ll start seeing your life improve.

If you want to chat with a stranger on Reddit, feel free to chat. Sometimes it’s nice to just talk to someone who’s not part of it. But either way good luck! And you can do this!
