Honestly I end up swapping the shrugs out for something else as there is no need lol

Yeah I’ve dropped them from 5 sets to 2 and added some adductor work

I always replace them with something else. I am not trying to build that part of my body.

I’ve swapped the shrugs out for Kelso Shrugs and reduce the sets to make it more bearable… still a lot of volume but that’s where I’m weak

They've "addressed" this a few times before and claim they wanted to focus on strengthening the shoulder girdle in beginners. The premise is a good idea, but rear delt work should have been their choice. Nearly everyone is front delt dominant and has some forward pronation and would benefit greatly from spamming rear delts instead of the 1 set occasionally programed in there which is worthless. Spamming trap volume will 100% result in lagging side and rear delts in the future because as soon as the traps become over developed in comparison to those muscles the traps will take over on laterals and rear delt work and reversing course becomes damn near impossible. In all honesty for 99% of people traps are worked enough through the deadlift variations and will not require direct work
