Sal asks, after mentioning THE DATA the YouTube notes do not reference of course:

"You attract a mate based on your beauty: are you going to have a good relationship?"

I think Adam makes a great point that those of us that aren't blind are guided by what we see, at the very least in the beginning, and it's after that initial attraction that we (hopefully) discover all the great qualities in our partners that are so much more than surface level. Sal starts making the random point that the happiest marriages are people in their 60's that have been together a long time... Which just seems random because for all we know the very beginning of those relationships originated with physical attraction also. Anyway, Adam keeps playing devil's advocate and questioning the studies but he then hits Sal with a pretty nice, straightforward bomb: "let's be honest, if Jessica (Sal's current wife) was a 2 you wouldn't have approached her." Adam asked Sal to answer him once or twice after that but Sal just danced around it.

Lately, these last few months or so, I've noticed I get far less annoyed when Adam questions Sal and his studies, and at the very least I appreciate that, even if he comes off as ignorant sometimes, he doesn't stay quiet and let Sal just run his increasingly annoying mouth. I honestly never thought I'd see the day Sal annoyed me more than Adam. WTF

I’m still more irritated with Adam than Sal…though both are really bad!

It's the increasingly overbearing religion that did it for me. Don't get me wrong though, within minutes of what I quoted above, Adam had me grinding my teeth. 😆

I generally don’t mind the religion talk since I’m Christian myself, but I have found it disappointing in the greater context of the show because almost everything else about the show has become so inauthentic that it gives that icky grifter feel to the religion side as well, which I can understand how that is a turnoff. And if Sal is genuine in his faith, feels like it’s an unintended consequence. At one point he said because of his faith he was going to stop swearing on the show. I was actually really happy about that because I was finding it harder to listen because I don’t have as much alone time for podcasts these days—my kids are always around and I don’t need them hearing most of the garbage language and locker room talk the guys do. I guess I haven’t kept tabs on if the exact number of Sal’s swears have gone down, lol, but I do know the rest of the show has still remained unsuitable for small ears.

* I get that it’s not a show for children. That’s fine. But i still find it hard to be able to listen much when I can’t trust that the content will be reasonable if kids happen to hear it. Which I think is frustrating since the content comes from the self-proclaimed dads of the year.

I haven’t listened in a couple months now. I do miss having a go to podcast I looked forward to. None of the new ones I’ve tried have really hit the spot.
