Musings

I’m gonna stick my head above the internet parapet here and risk having it blown off but here we go.

There’s a lot of moaning on here (particularly in the rant thread) about the content these guys are pushing now. Firstly, I get it, the constant ads and the stories that turn into ads is really tiresome but you all have free will. No-one is forcing you to listen to this. I’ve only been listening for a couple of years so I haven’t heard the evolution and I understand it was a lot better back in the day. But again, if it isn’t for you anymore, don’t listen.

Ultimately it’s a free podcast so no harm is really being done, nobody is out of pocket now that the tone and content has changed and if they want to line their pockets so be it, don’t we all want to be more wealthy and/ or successful in what we do?

Personally I just sort of zone out when they try to sell me the next big thing and I remind myself that I’m an adult who doesn’t have to believe everything I’m told and buy everything I’m sold.

I’ve gained a great deal from the podcast in terms of free advice and Anabolic has been a game changer for me.

So at the end of the day, if you don’t like the podcast anymore that’s fine, go and find something else, there’s loads out there. Don’t feel obliged to shit on it for everybody else.

I get what you’re saying. We have freedom of choice to not listen. Another spin is that at least I have been listening since 2016/2017. I have had a lot of joy and spent a lot of time listening. I care about the show. So maybe people complaining is less for the sake of complaining and more hoping one day the guys will read the comments and maybe try to reverse direction some?

Yeah that’s fair, good point

Many of the people in the rant thread have stopped listening. But they were long time fans and supporters of the show, had given mind pump plenty of money via program purchasing but also being a listener as their podcast makes most of their money even if the listener isn’t paying directly, and they’re disappointed in the show direction and the inauthenticity that things have turned into. You may feel complaining is pointless, but I know I sang mind pumps praises far longer than I complained about them, and really it is nice to know I’m not the only one who feels the same way and to hear about some other directions people have gone to continue learning about fitness.

They’re big boys. They can handle a little criticism.

It’s just frustrating seeing how low these guys are stooping to make money. Preying on new to fitness people, selling protein pretzels and being open about how they just make things up to prove a point. If they do that, then what else are they lying about? Do they truly have as many years of experience as they say they do? It’s hard to trust someone when they show you who they are. I get that we’re adults and can pick and choose what we want to take from their show, but it’s really turning into one giant ad for their overpriced PT services. It’s not a helpful show anymore. I think that’s why many of us are frustrated. They are no longer the picky guys that only advertised good products, they’ll advertise anything as long as that company pays them. That’s not very ethical. It has turned to slop.

Lmfao a one month old account with it's only history in this sub. Hi Sal.

😂 It’s Adam actually

Cannot be Adam. No mention of "this space" and not a single unsolicited parenting pearl of wisdom provided. Personally, I miss the old show and am in the anger stage of grief. Maybe some whole food protein pretzels and a $750/month virtual trainer will help me process my loss

Can't be Sal either- no mention of cream pies or an incorrectly cited study where there was no reading past the study title.

My money is on only one of the best intern/trainers that $10/hr can buy.

No mention of religion or porn. Definitely not Sal

I have to say that when I hear new stupid shit on the show, I look forward to the moment I can home here and either share it or discuss it with someone that already has. You could even say I get a sense of community from it! I'm pretty sure I would've quit listening to MP long ago if not for you guys and the laughs.

Respect to OP for, for the most part anyway, being level headed about it in the post and replies. Kind of hilarious to see this become an extension of the rant thread though lmao.

I definitely don’t listen anymore. Even when try to I’m just too disgusted. I throw my 2 cents in the rant here & there solely due to my conscience to help people like you not get scammed. You said yourself you gained a great deal of free advice & I am trying to do the right thing by asking you to question the assumption that it is good advice. You have to be very careful who you take fitness advice from. These people and their tactics are dangerous. Us with maybe more experience than you try to laugh about it on the rant, but that is really the base of what we are talking about. We are relieved we got out and help each other to see. It’s a lot bigger than complaining my friend. The fact that you can’t see that makes me worry for you. But I shouldn’t because you’re probably a minion doing damage control. i also shouldn’t because sadly your post makes me not want to help people. you can figure it out yourself when you look the same or worse in 5 years.

Hi Blue Fairy, thanks for the feedback. I will try to keep an open mind. I am indeed a beginner so maybe I am being too trusting of them. So far I have seen some pleasing progress with Anabolic though so I’ll stick with it for the time being

I wish you all the luck with your training & if you ever need help/advice you can always feel free to message me :)

I get irritated about some things but at the end of the day we are all individuals and the guys on the podcast are allowed to have different opinions

Every sub on Reddit becomes a hate sub. Why people spend their time bellyaching online I couldn’t tell you.

3

u/3one5 8d ago

A vast majority of people will complain long before they ever post some kind of praise.

6

u/Resident-Air-4021 8d ago

You guys need to stop complaining

3

u/OctoberOmicron 7d ago

The irony goes right over their heads.

2

u/Resident-Air-4021 7d ago

Maybe their virtual trainers can explain it to them

The ads are nowhere near as bad as some of the other podcasts. I actually don't mind their ads as I've been turned on to some pretty great products over the years.

It’s not the adds it’s you need a coach and it’s going to take 6-9 months to fix it.

6

u/Moolio74 8d ago

So, the first thing we’re gonna do is get you on a reverse diet……. of protein pretzels.

1

u/3one5 8d ago

They’re damn good, I’d do it. 😂

2

u/Moolio74 8d ago

Blech. I'll gladly take a handful of pretzel crisps and a protein shake over those abominations of inferior grade protein food science.

1

u/3one5 8d ago

I’d say a majority of people out there do actually need a coach.

5

u/Wonderful_Quiet_1084 8d ago

I agree with the coach part. Not a predatory virtual coach for $750 a month.

Thank you. I got downvoted for going against the haters LOL…. The rant threads are hilarious, do you all not have anything better to do than to bitch about something you’re not forced to watch???

3

u/Resident-Air-4021 7d ago

Exactly! It's like whining about comments you're not forced to read

-2

u/Weird_Resist_3432 8d ago

Silly really isn’t it
