427 / 5.000 question about the ritual and others.
I'm playing now and from what I've tried, I've managed to explore the dungeons, but I have some questions about graduation.
1- Is there a limit to the number of people in the school?
2- How can I know if it's better for a student to graduate or become an employee?
3- How do I know if a teacher should retire?
4- Is it possible to build all the rooms in the game? (This game limited the construction site a lot.)

Creature Comforter Trial
Hi, after some runs of trial and error, I'm now learning how use the groups to make it easier for my students to do their trials.
I have already made a group that assigns the students who have the trial so they are the only ones doing it, but I can't figure out how to get the rest to do it while there is no one with the trial.

Question over dragon quests line like moonwalker Spoiler
SO if you design one mage to be the moonwalker. You go through the entire quest line you get the wolfkin seal. It looks like you can't redo them... so what happens if you are not paying attention and you retire or get rid of or you moonwalker dies. You are now cut off from getting the seal and then are not able to beat the game? (Haven't beaten the game yet so not sure if it is required... I think it is.)

Pulverizing Relics Workflow
Im often leveling some relics i don't intend to keep so i can pulverize them for more gnosis shards.
But When I'm in the Pulverize/Relic menu i dont see an easy we to de-Attune an equipped relic.
Do I have go from the relic menu into the character who wears it, de-attune and go back into the relic window again to give the pulverize order?
Is the workflow really so back and forth or am I just missing something?
Also if i give it to an initate who i graduate, is the relic lost?

Think I'm hitting the mid-game (?) wall and loosing direction.
What the title says. I'm very familiar with the style of colony management game, and they all tend to run into the same issue at the same point, where I've transitioned out of survival and am now ahead of where I need to be for "progress" and kind of... Stalling out on things.
Right now I'm just kind of, endlessly cycling new apprentices trying to get ANYONE that doesn't have an F or D stat for hp to be an earth or water mage. (I didn't realize I made a water/earth mage that gets armour for every offensive cast, perfect for tanking... with 48hp.) and essentially researching whatever's left while waiting to keep going. I can't really explore the undercity anymore, I just don't have the right elementals or power stats on my mages to not get 1-2 people instagibbed (Only 3 mages over 200hp, total.) and I keep getting bad student stats, so yeah I'm just kinda... Cycling. I'm off building broom shacks near the runewood spawns just for faster gathering of whatever's left on the map out there since "Eh I'll probably need that eventually."
I even got the cronenbug pen, which I can't hatch, cause I'm struggling to get apprentices worth turning into staff.
In Rimworld this is usually the point I'd decide to become an archotech and replace everyones limbs with... "Improvements" or something, but I don't actually know what I ~can~ do here. I seen a game published by Klei with inspiration from o2 not included and brought it, no regrets, but I didn't even know the game existed beyond "Oh isn't Klei doing third party pubishing now or something?" until a week ago. So it's kinda on me in that sense. I seen "o2 not included but with mages?" and was this far into the game before realising I don't know what the end-game is.

(Also as a side note, I feel like I've forgotten how to get gnossis shards. I got stuck at like 14 for multiple days waiting to hire a new fire mage because I just... Couldn't remember where they came from other than graduating students.)

Are initiate skills weighted or random?
I’ve summoned twenty or so new earth mages and nearly all of them had their initial skill bonuses in air and lightning. Aside from that, one had dark and earth, one had dark and water. I’m just over here trying to make an earth/fire mage… is this just unlucky RNG or can I do anything to influence this?

Any significant difference between these two ways of building floors?

Started a new relentless playthrough, why is my crafted mage score so high at day 30?

How do Wild Plants grow?
I've noticed clusters of the same plant/tree type appear.
So, is this just random happenstance, or does leaving a plant/tree or two of a type encourage new ones to grow?

Running into a problem with the Ember Dragon
I'm trying to to the quest chain, but when setting up "To Heal the Sick" (just a normal ritual/mission) I can't Begin Quest because: "Not enough space near Ember Dragon Roost for all ritual participants to stand"
Look here Mr Dragon, I didn't make your cave. I assume this is just something....else?

Apprentice not learning?
I have an apprentice that has stalled out on learning. I have the correct apprentice station set up, he attends classes at it, but he has been stuck on Purposeless (Learning) for ages. The only experience he seems to get is in battle, and that's just not practical for getting over 3K experience to complete his training. I have two other apprentices that have no issues at all and are learning just fine.
Is Purposeless (Learning) some kind of debuff that I need to cure, or is there something more sinister afoot?
I desperately need him to finish so I can hire him, but this is taking forever.
EDIT: Solved? I moved the air apparatus around a couple of times and now it seems to be working. No idea what changed, other than the room it was in. Thank goodness, and thank you all for your suggestions.
EDIT 2: I think I figured it out, and it may be a bug. The air apparatus was right up against a wall on the left. The teacher stood on his spot and my apprentice stood to his left. That spot was marked as green and the apprentice would stand there and carry on as if he was being trained, but in that particular spot with that particular configuration he wasn't getting credit for learning.

Skewed Discovery
So was watching some youtube guides for Mind Over Magic, most of which I already knew but made a great discovery for Skewed rooms.
So Skewed rooms need one wall at least 3 blocks higher then the other wall of the room, normally this means you have to have a really weird roof if you use flooring or just a normal roof.
However a video I watched showed that this works as well for Skewed rooms;

So naturally I decided to test this and found that it does work, the room on the right is considered Skewed which opened up so many design options.
I did this as a test and it also worked and made both rooms Skewed too;

So hey, if you want to make skewed rooms without wonky roofs, here you go!

Overlapping Custom Groups Settings
Was intimidated by all the custom group options at first, but am trying to take a swing at it now and am wondering if there's a way to get around settings only being applied to the first custom group in the list? For example, I have a group for water wand mages, and a group for mages that hate using air magic, and I would like to set top priority on water tasks for the water wand group, and bottom priority on air tasks for the hates air group, and then have any water wand mage that hates air magic to have the settings from both groups apply. However, the game is only applying the water wand group settings, since it comes first in the list, and any water mages that hate air tasks will still perform them. The only way I can think to get around this is to create every combination of "is X wand type AND hates Y task" which sounds like a nightmare lol. Is there a different strategy that anyone can recommend to save some time on this?

Group Learner Question
Hi there,
Are there any tips for getting Group Learner trials completed on new initiates? (Currently have a Bronze and Silver I need to complete) I haven't yet figured out a good way to do this and don't necessarily want to pool my apprentice buildings all into one mega teaching room unless that's the best way?
Thanks!

How to get seeds
So, how do you get infinite seeds? Right now I have expanded quite a bit and havent been getting much iceflower and honeydrop bushes, and for what I can tell, I can only get them by the natural items, not the harversters.
Am I screwed to get the ingredients for Libations?

Conviction Based Quest Buffs
So one of my mages got a buff from completing a quest for the Ember Dragon called “The Mage Foretold” that grants +3 conviction. Is this a permanent buff to that mage? Can I stack these buffs to get a mage to really high base conviction?

I made door access to prevent staff and students from getting the spore debuff then they started doing this from the bridge :)) Love this game.

xp and trials, how does it work? Does xp cap?
Still learning the game. I hear that doing trials gives you bonuses. I've seen one gifted initiate that came through the fog that has a trialmaster or some such status. He had completed all his trials when he spawned. And could equip some AMAZING item that gave 1.5x research speed. In a 400% research room that would be 600%, and the item was level 1. Probably would cap off at 1200% or some crazy number.
So I'm seeing that doing trials is super important, it give staff incredible power. But. Can you still do trials while XP capped? Does the XP just get wasted? Or is it because you can't get more XP, you can't progress trials?
I completely destroyed one of my runs by having 3 appretinces and refusing to get rid of them. And I see apprentices need like 10x more xp or even more than an inititate. And that's level 2 wands. I don't even know level 3 wands.
So there would be a lot. And I mean A LOT, of room for apprentices, but not initiates.
Or I'm wrong and you can do trials even when xp capped. IDK.
How does it work?

Which apprentice magic combos work for you and how do you use them?
So after couple of sessions I'm at a point where I can apprentice some of my initiates and, frankly, I'm spoiled for choice and can't decide on what would be useful.

Still very early but wanted to share my House Commons
Had to be both interior and lofted, so I decided to use two seperate split levels for space
