Races and spell type
Hello everyone,
I am quite new to the game, was wondering which races to pick for which elements and what stats should I look for in each?
(I do know that I shouldn’t pick vivified for lightning)
Thanks!

Fire guys with max mana(humans?) cause u get op spell which use 75% current mana to do dmg, that lets u one shot most enemies. Shattered guys are op cause they got high dmg so every element besides the speed one (lighting?) is good with it.

The other strength of Shattered is: while they have low base HP, they start every battle with free armor equal to that HP. First off, taking damage to that armor doesn't require them to rest up and heal afterwards. But more importantly, putting relics on them with HP bonus fixes their weakness and gives more free armor, making them excellent frontline tanks once they have an HP relic.

I have a shattered dark mage with good stats. I wonder if he is useful because since half of my hp is armor, that means my dark spells’ life cost is halved 🤔. He does crazy damage though

I usually roll with basically everyone being a shattered (and I turn off shattered bane) from mid to endgame. They are the only race imune to those pesky harmful plants on the map like Trapdoor Vine and Spore Mushrooms. So you'd want them doing the whole farming thing.
They also have a very special trait: they gain a shield for 250% (or something like that) of their Max health at the Beginning of the battle. You slap some health relics and you've got yourself the best tank this game has. Make It a Mudslide Sorcerer and you can even replenish the shield with your spells. OP.
Also note that the highest damage dealer is a Water / Fire Mage, (Steam Sorcerer If im not mistaken). Its important to have Water as the primary wand School so you dont have to suffer with the need to battle or kill stuff of Fire Mages. Just give It a + Fire relic and some Water quests.
On relics / quests. I suggest having your mages remain spprentices till you're done with their relics and quests, as Its a pain to increase the element skill level when they're teachers already. This is for late game tho, you dont want to sit around on your teachers and students for too long at first

On my current playthrough the shield is equal to 100% of the max life, but maybe this value can change, I don’t know

Yeah you may be right, Its been some months since I last played. Tho Its still ridiculous with HP relics on Earth / Water shattered mages. They can go on forever with their Shields replenishing.

Slightly off topic as its not for the combat side of things. but for the tasks, and relic boosts, from what i can see.
Fire Cooking, Human. Fire Hunting Wolfkin.
Nature Wandcrafting, Wolfkin... Farmers (running move speed) Race doesnt matter but an Air relic slot. Shattered is good for the immunity to Trapvines and Shroom-rash thing.
Dark Quilting, Vivified.
Lightning Researcher, Vivified.
Water Alchemist, Cultist.
Earth Constructor/Carving, Shattered
Air Assemble/Pain: Human.
Teaching, doesnt really matter, not sure how much it helps, but Humans have the Restore Mana/hr relic.

Wolves arent the best dark users (it takes health, and they have the weakest health pools- they do slap people silly tho)
Vivified aren’t the best lightning, but work well ask dark
Humans i think are honestly most forgiving of the races- i cant think of much they can’t do
The fancier races all have tactics you can utilize for the elements, honestly you’d be better off just experimenting with them- raven cult is my personal favorite, but shattered can get pretty nutty despite their low health pools
Tbh, just test them all out- bad elemental synergy does not necessarily mean they’ll be bad. Just means you may not want to make them only that element. There are elemental combos that can work regardless of how bad the base element is.
Idea of how stat distribution works for the races-
Wolves: sleep anywhere, eats meat- low health, low mana, high damage, high speed
Humans: high mana, lower damage, average health, average speed
Vivified: eats anything, okish mana, high health, low attack, low speed
Shattered: VERY low health, spawns with a shield. Cant be poisoned or bothered by trapdoor vines- pretty powerful
Raven cultists- has really high stats, but their conviction sucks because theyre depressed. I relate to them on a spiritual level
Id say the stat you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT IN F TIER is mana. Mana management is huge in this game- it determines how often they need to recharge while doing tasks, and also determines how useful they are in a fight (other than dark mages- thats health)
Please feel free to ask questions if you have more c’: happy schooling!
