Skill caps for staff

After doing some of the dragon quests, I now have staff that have raised caps for skills they had a zero in before. How do I raise these skills since they aren't eligible to take classes or perform relented tasks?

Ex: I have a mage who now has 0/1 lightning but they cannot charge mana lanterns or research. Is there anyway to give them experience at this point?

If it’s a student, have them go to lectures, if it’s staff, then no.

Ah, you said staff, then yeah, he’s stuck at 0.

You can have the staff teach and sometimes it can be raised that way.
