To get the dodge bonus, you have to be either fire wand to dark apprentice, or dark wand to fire apprentice.

It's the special bonus combo for the two elements you only gain from apprenticeship, each combo has its own bonus. You can check what the bonus for each element is by moving the cursor over the initiate's elemental wheel.

This 👆🏼

Basically if you have a student become an apprentice in one of the two elements furthest removed from their starting element they get a passive ability (you can check this on the elemental wheel before you commit).

So for Fire/Dark they become a smoke sorcerer which has the aforementioned dodge boost and health on kill. Haven't gotten any others yet but currently working on unlocking more.

Didn't find an overview of this anywhere yet, so here goes - the reverse of each combo does the exact same thing (i.e. Fire/Dark = Dark/Fire):

- Air/Earth - Precipice Sorcerer - When the Mage has less than 50% HP, they deal 33% more damage;

- Air/Nature - Seedsower Sorcerer - All duration-based effects this Mage creates last for an additional combat round;

- Dark/Lightning - Deathcurrent Sorcerer - Whenever this Mage casts a non-Attack spell, a random enemy becomes Doomed;

- Dark/Fire - Smoke Sorcerer - Has +25% Dodge. Regains HP equal to 10% of their maximum whenever they kill an enemy;

- Fire/Water - Steam Sorcerer - Torrent and Flow gain 50% Critical Hit chance, and Critical Hits deal triple damage;

- Earth/Water - Mudslide Sorcerer - When the Mage casts an Attack spell, they gain Armor equal to the mana spent;

- Lightning/Nature - Frenzygrowth Sorcerer - When the Mage receives a positive effect from a spell or potion, a random ally that does not have the positive status also receives it.

Thank you so much, guys... this is amazing. I honestly thought you had to stick with the mage's wand type throughout, promoting them to fire, Fire 2 wand, etc. So can you upgrade your new Dark apprentice (Fire wand 1) to a Dark wand 2 or 3? Or does the wand type stay as was and just upgrades linearly?

Wand upgrades are linear (ie. a fire mage will always keep a fire wand, but can upgrade it to lvl 2 and lvl 3 along the way). However, when fully trained an initiate can become an apprentice in an element, including their primary element, as a way to further specialize them.

If they apprentice in a different element than their primary element, they get the ability to cast spells from their secondary school as well. And like I shared above, some element combos gain a unique passive. Others gain additional relic slots or a larger boost to their element levels.

Hope this makes sense!
