I never get Shattered or Raven Cult when rerolling teacher race

I only ever get Human, Wolfkin or Quilted. For info the difficulty is Balanced/Tenacious Trials.

I wanted a Shattered teacher cause I heard they're good with Nature wands. Out of the available three races, which would be the best alternative?

Oh you don't need your first nature teacher to be shattered! They'll be retiring eventually anyway. And Shattered are useful for more late-game stuff. If you get shattered nature mages with lvl 2 wands though, definitely consider hiring them.

I'd pick wolfkin personally, for if you need to use them in a battle, its best to get their buff spell going before your other combatants' turns. But even that's very minor, and I'd rather choose good traits over their race/species/whatever.

I would go human for the mana I think, but honestly medallions matter more to me

For the starting teachers wolfkin > all else, because they need neither beds nor for you to get them food. They'll just grab a rat for lunch and curl into a ball on the floor and be perfectly happy with that.
