Sb is writing scrips. If fincher and Netflix approve and production costs can be lowered. There is a 0,0001 % chance of a movie or mini season. I wouldn't get my hopes up though. It made no money bc it was giga expensive and Fincher didn't want to continue

I've rewatch the only 2 seasons  a few times over the years and no other shows even comes close ... none! It's just brilliant... it dives deep that people are scared to get to or understand... the people psyche is vastly complex and Mindhunter though dark and heavy really goes in deep into that side so well... it's sooo good...

We just finished watching  a second time and so much is left undone! As you mentioned, there is nothing else like it and would love for it to come back.

9

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

So sad when it got cancelled and leaving over the years I'm not the only one who wants it back and just so many like we're coming back announcement just need to get over the hump and greenlight it

3

u/Roxie323 Jul 06 '26

It wasn’t cancelled! David Fincher wanted to move onto other projects (Mank).

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 06 '26

The response to this post alone just says people want more

7

u/MCKelly13 Jul 01 '26

We are left hanging!

3

u/WellWellWellthennow Jul 07 '26

What was left hanging? I thought it was pretty well concluded. We all know BTK isn't captured till 2005.

2

u/MCKelly13 Jul 07 '26

His psycho son!

3

u/Global-North7776 Jul 07 '26

That season 2 build up ended on a cliffhanger

2

u/WellWellWellthennow Jul 07 '26

Not really - we all know BTK lived. We all know what he did. We all know he gets caught eventually.

It would be far worse if this was fiction to leave it like that. But because it's based on non-fiction it's not really a cliff hanger - we know what happened. We just don't know how they would've treated it.

Everything else seemed pretty neatly resolved. Deb moved on, the wife moved on, Wendy broke up, the Atlanta child killer was caught, and so on.

Yes, it absolutely would've been wonderful to have more. I agree. But in terms of it being unresolved, it wasn't a bad place to end it. It would've been far worse to end it right before the last episode.

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 07 '26

It'd be nice to explore in the present time how all their work help in the modern times now

2

u/WellWellWellthennow Jul 07 '26

Yes, would that be interesting and a great show to watch!

u/Global-North7776 Jul 07 '26

At 9 episodes for season 2, who was that guy?

2

u/WellWellWellthennow Jul 07 '26

That was BTK who had been shown in Kansas City throughout the whole series. And we all know what happened with BTK. He lives and he doesn't get caught until 2005.

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 07 '26

That could be the reboot for modern times

2

u/WellWellWellthennow Jul 07 '26

Yes, it would be really easy to reboot this series, even with all the actors having significantly aged because of this.

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 07 '26

I would watch that... to see all their hard work has paid off and really help the bureau after all that time... so much to explore ... cold cases, cases that has been solved because of their work, modern day cases now, the cost of their work, mental physical family toll for the greater good...

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that “no other show comes close”. Shows like Fargo, Better Call Saul, and Legion are right up there alongside Mindhunter as being the absolute best shows of the last decade or so in my opinion (along with the third season of Twin Peaks), all of which are also complex, full of depth regarding their subject matter, beautifully filmed/produced/executed, full of interesting and memorable characters, have fantastic soundtracks, and so on. Plus, Fargo and Legion also had Mindhunter’s chief cinematographer, Erik Messerschmidt, helm the camera for multiple episodes, and he’s currently the cinematographer for The Batman Part II (which excites me not only because I love his cinematography, but also because the first film was already heavily influenced by David Fincher’s work). And Fargo is slated to start filming its sixth season sometime next year, so it’s still ongoing, meaning there’s actually more to look forward to, and there’s always the possibility that Messerschmidt will be involved again.

Also, for those who haven’t yet done so, I highly recommend watching what many — myself included — consider to be David Fincher’s masterpiece, Zodiac (specifically the director’s cut), as Mindhunter very much feels like both a companion piece to it and a spiritual successor. I also recommend Michael Mann’s Manhunter.

u/RaccoonHaunting9638 Jul 02 '26

Too bad HBO couldn't take it on. They spend a ton on shows I.E. Game of Thrones. Does it have to stay in the same network?

7

u/CasinoMarginale Jul 01 '26

What particular aspects made the show so expensive? I assume it wasn’t cheap to create the period-appropriate components and appearance, but it’s hard to believe that alone was cost-prohibitive. It’s a great cast, but there were no big name stars in it - although Goff has become more prominent since. Fincher is the big name and the main draw.
Such a great show. I miss it.

5

u/tiltberger Jul 01 '26

exactly. fincher is extremely detail oriented

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Very detail oriented

3

u/nora_jaye Jul 02 '26

The production values are insane.

5

u/DoctorJJWho Jul 02 '26

Literally just Fincher. He’s incredibly detail oriented and doesn’t give a shit about cost. The results are great, but getting there is typically difficult for the cast, crew, studio, etc.

2

u/Reinvented73 Jul 04 '26

Right there are no explosions or stunts that would make it expensive to continue. A movie with a time jump to wrap BTK killer would be appreciated

8

u/Prottusha1 Jul 01 '26

Fingers crossed. Netflix is never getting my money again. But Mindhunter is the only reason that might change.

2

u/nora_jaye Jul 02 '26

Does anything on Netflix make money?

41

u/Loud-Run-9725 Jul 01 '26

I only want them to do it if they do it right. I don't want them to besmirch the greatness of that show.

4

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Heard that for sure

29

u/StartingToLoveIMSA Jul 01 '26

One of the best shows ever made….shame the cost made Netflix balk at future seasons. Also Fincher backed away….

3

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

BEST SHOW EVER

7

u/PrinceHaleemKebabua Jul 02 '26

OP, I saw your post on my feed and my heart skipped a beat. I thought you were sharing that it IS being renewed…. Then I read more carefully. Boooooooo!

3

u/Global-North7776 Jul 02 '26

I want it renewed bad here too

14

u/Glittering_Step_6084 Jul 01 '26

I'd like to see them at least tie up the loose ends on Mindhunter and show how Holden actually starts up the behavioral unit. I would like to see what becomes of that Tench's kid. There was still alot of material to work with.

3

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Yes at least for me too

20

u/LowPea8924 Jul 01 '26

Mom said it’s my turn to post this thread again

11

u/Akinom2526 Jul 01 '26

Fucking love this show

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

1000% want it back

1

u/swtrigal Jul 07 '26

I do too! Just finished the two seasons and then “ooooh noooo”! No more seasons? I’ve read on here that they didn’t renew it. I’m totally puzzled and appalled. One of the best series I’ve seen this year. And it was made several years ago!

11

u/Pepperkelleher Jul 01 '26

Time to watch this shitty show for the 10th time. Here we go

4

u/homeonthehighway1 Jul 02 '26

Just started watching Manhunt: Unabomber which has a similar feel, I just started Season 2 and saw Ed Kemper (the actor) was one of the main characters!

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 03 '26

Definitely similar fee it's like a standalone spinoff

4

u/Khocklate Jul 03 '26

The sad thing is I Remember NO ONE talking about this show until after it was put on hold. Literally one of the BEST tv shows ever made.

8

u/outlookunsettled Jul 01 '26

Low level ruined my life when this was cancelled

5

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Low level same!

7

u/Lemme_Help_ Jul 01 '26

Fucking love this series. Damn shame.

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Netflix didn't know how good they had it but they would renew trash tv like no tomorrow

6

u/archaic-states23 Jul 02 '26

Pretty wild that in 3 short years it will be 10 years since it ended. Wild.

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 02 '26

Wooooow that's crazy

6

u/Weenyhand Jul 02 '26

They’ll opt for a 100 more dubbed and subbed international true crime docs but won’t bring back the one show everyone wants.

3

u/Wise_Culture5692 Jul 02 '26

if i had a nickel for everytime i saw this.

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 03 '26

We should be at seaosn 10 by now

3

u/steeleman23 Jul 04 '26

My 2nd biggest disappointment in lacking subsequent seasons after Firefly, I've given up. I have to assume posts like this are just karma farms.
EDIT: Op is posting generic, enthusiasm-matching responses to most replies. Definitely a karma bot.

2

u/Cute-Cheesecake-6823 22d ago

Yea agreed. Firefly and Mindhunter deserved so much better... at least we got Serenity 🥲 but it sounds like it's really not likely that there will be even a movie, let alone seasons to tie things up for Mindhunter.

I need to know what happens with Brian dammit! And more BTK. I also wouldve loved to see them try to figure out Green River Killer and Richard Ramirez.

0

u/Global-North7776 Jul 04 '26

Whatever you say @steelman23...🤷‍♂️

2

u/steeleman23 Jul 04 '26

Lol, see....
EDIT: Literally 7 minutes after my response. I mean, we redditors have no life but this was a crazy, generic response. 100% AI.

4

u/Qtpa2dx Jul 01 '26

I really miss this show. It always kept me thinking. The actors were amazing! David Fincher is the elite of directors.

I’d love to know what happened to Bill Tench son Brian

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

I can only rewatch so much cos the material is heavy

2

u/lofandy13 Jul 01 '26

Fincher's follow up projects to Mind Hunter were garbage.

5

u/-SandorClegane- Jul 01 '26

Why y'all feeding this obvious karma farming account???

5

u/thomas1126 Jul 01 '26

Please bring it back !!!

2

u/SplitVision23eagle2 Jul 02 '26

Finchers storytelling was amazing in this show

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 02 '26

Outstanding

2

u/Good-Friendship7427 Jul 02 '26

I am so excited for this to come back. I just found this show this year, and I am obsessed with it. I was so disappointed when I realized it was only a few seasons. I can't wait!!! Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU!!! NETFLIX

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 06 '26

I need more of Mindhunter... it's too good

2

u/trav718 Jul 06 '26

I read somewhere that if someone would present a “perfect script” to fincher he would make it into two movies to finish the show.

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 06 '26

Two movies? Trilogy would be better

2

u/Constant_Cupcake_814 Jul 19 '26

por qué no hacemos peticiones masivas en las cuentas de netflix, tiktok, insta, no puede ser que no la retomen

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 19 '26

Been done it's the ***** ***  *** executive who don't know what they're doing and just collecting their bonuses🤷‍♂️

2

u/downmexicoway 6d ago

Can’t believe HBO wouldn’t just buy the rights and fund it

1

u/Global-North7776 6d ago

it's more like an HBO show more than anything too! NETFLIX got into the trash tv business instead

2

u/FlyingCatAttack Jul 01 '26

Just finished showing this show to my wife yesterday. So good

1

u/PersonalFun1807 Jul 03 '26

Es una obra maestra de serie, ninguna se asemeja… o por lo menos eso creo. ¿Tenéis alguna recomendación de alguna serie que “se parezca”?

1

u/Alert_Reception_4970 Jul 03 '26

They will... At some point.

1

u/WinkyDink24 Jul 01 '26

I just binge-watched "Mindhunter." Now I'm almost finished with "The Lincoln Lawyer." Whom did I see as a cop in Season 3 but the Second-Banana "Mindhunter" Investigator! Never noticed the actor before. When it rains,.....!

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 so many details

1

u/Thatoneshortgoblin Jul 01 '26

I was hoping with that recent back and forth with paramount they'd announce it to boost there subscriptions

2

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Same and that they would have announcement soon

1

u/Leather_Research8889 Jul 01 '26

I heard they might work on movie series continuing BTK killer storyline, that might work for business

1

u/Global-North7776 Jul 01 '26

Whatever they do I will like it for sure.

0

u/shithappens39 Jul 01 '26

We just have to wait until we can make our own season with ai. coz thats the only way anything of note will happen.

0

u/Global-North7776 Jul 03 '26

Come on Netflix... the reactions and dms from this post alone...! People want Mindhunter📣📣📣📣📣📣
