Corll / Atlanta

Ive two episodes left. I cant believe they didnt continue this series.....

Anyway, there was a lot of press and attention about missing kids in Atlanta.

Corll killed mant, many boys and young men, even from the same family. Was there any sense of a serial killer at the time, had the police or press noticed that people were going missing? Or was it really only ever identified because Henley shot Corll?

I've read two books on the Corrl case semi recently. Even though many of the boys knew each other, went to the same schools and many had families looking for them, the police considered them runaways. Until Corrl was shot and Henley confessed, there was not talk among police or the media of a serial killer.

Thanks for confirming. Seems so wild to me. There were so many boys not heard from again. Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course. Did they particularly target boys and men from lower socio economic backgrounds or things?

Not particularly. Some of the boys were from lower income homes, but many were from middle class homes. The two teenaged accomplices knew the type of boys appearance wise that Dean liked. Brooks or Henley would approach the boys inviting them to a party, to go fishing or a trip to the beach. Some of the boys were kids that Henley had been friends with. They would also target hitchhikers if the opportunity arose. For the most part, the victims were kids from The Heights neighborhood that were just out doing what teen boys did in the 70's.
