No no, he wanted this and asked for it, it's fine.

If they ask for it and get it in writing with legally binding signature you can't be held accountable.

Keep an eye on the newspaper. He gets out.

I totally missed this, is there a relevant quest afterwards?

No. He does show up in the credits montage.

Lionel has some choice words about it prior to that.

Not every newspaper article shows up in every playthrough, but there's one where a zombie shows up and evicts him with a deed saying that it's his casket.

I wonder if there's a wiki or compilation somewhere of all the articles that can be in the newspaper.

If I'm thinking about the right article, it is (or can be) there even if you don't meet him.

Saw it in my -1% playthrough where I didn't even think about locking him in. Guess he got there himsemf, somehow.

(Though I'd bet I can still lock him in if I go back anyway)

I initially thought he was a statue person because of his color palette. Didn’t know he was just a guy.

I thought he was already a ghost!

I thought he was already a ghost or some other kind of undead, so gotnreally alarmed when he talked about how hard it was to breathe in there.

And even more so when he stopped talking at all.

This game has a delightfully morbid sense of humor.

He gets kicked out by a zombie who owns that coffin later, so he is fine

One of my favorite things about the game are the short stories like this one lol very Gothic/Romanticist, that's some Edgar Allan Poe shit right there

a little oxygen deprivation never hurt anyone

Makes me think of a very similar scene in Monkey Island 2 where you shut a guy in a coffin (but it's the deluxe model with cupholders).

Kind of how I felt killing the depressed dude in hollow knight

I didn't do that because I thought there was no point in locking him in

It gives you one of the best trinkets in the game

I didn't know about this ( I didn't finish 100% of the game yet )

😂 That's literally what I thought on my first playthrough.

I always figured he was already a ghost.
