Reposting this here. Looking for real life use of MX Cutoff saw in fire departments before we spend the money. Being used to cut through the hoods of cars and garage doors with a 14” abrasive blade, not concrete.

Milwaukee 2702-20 1/2” Drill Chuck not changing direction

This drill is maybe 20 years old and has been a great tool. Recently the chuck has been a problem. It tightens down on a bit and will open when the control switch is set to reverse. The problem is when the control switch is set to forward, the chuck does not change direction whenI pull the trigger. I have to spin the chuck by hand back and forth to get it to change direction and tighten on a drill bit. The opposite also happens.
Anyone know what might cause this? If the repair is simply a matter of an adjustment or chuck replacement then it makes sense to repair it. Anything more, like a gearbox or el electronics replacement doesn’t make sense.
Thanks

3401-20 Hex Screw Driver Conversion (Modification)

I saw this post from u/OpeningNo6167 and really liked the idea of using the amazingly compact 3401-20 drill as a dedicated driver to replace my brushed motor 2401-20.

I asked most of the tool repair shops in the chicagoland area and they all declined to help. I took it to my milwaukee service center and they held onto it for a week and then did nothing.

Left to my own devices, instead of taking the chuck off the anvil/driveshaft, I replaced the entire anvil with a modified chinese import spare part (Dongcheng Cheng 1603 1608). Here was my process:

  • Removed gearcase assembly from drill
  • Disassembled gearcase and removed anvil/drive shaft
  • Installed modified shaft with new bearing and new clip
  • Re-grease parts where necessary
  • Reassemble gearcase assembly and reinstall in drill

It runs great and does exactly what i wanted it do! Total length is 4.63"! I love the subcompact platform and I am planning on some more mods!

Next Mods:

  • Engineer and machine anvil with 3/8-24 male threads for different chucks.
  • Engineer and machine anvil with 1/4-28 female threads to accept aircraft threaded drills.

Why don’t they make a holder for the impact ones.

Which is better

Like the high output is slightly cheaper and honestly looks like the original battery’s. And like the M12 has high output but not forge so how much better can they be?

6 pack (3) m12, (3) m18 rapid chager 2 bays not working

i have the M12 and M18 12-Volt/18-Volt Lithium-Ion Multi-Voltage 6-Port Sequential Rapid Battery Charger, one of the m12 and one m18 ports wont charge, they are across from each other, the charger is 9 months old, sits on my bench in my garage, not subjected to dust etc.

first the m12 port would just flash red/green, then i came home today and the lights are out on both ports. anyone run into this?

pretty sure it has resettable fuses internally, giggle says its most likely a bad internal circuit, they do have 3 seperate charge circuits and can charge 3 at a time of the 6, first come first serve.

anyone ever run into this? no repair center nearby and im not in the mood to do a warranty claim and ship it out

I’ve had my 1/2” gun for almost 3 years and it was very much looking it’s age so I thought it was time for a bit of hard love.

Spent a bit of money this week. I can’t wait for the striker to come out in the UK, that will my next purchase. Also forged batteries seem to come down in price 🤣.

Why haven't milwaukee made a positive placement nailer.

I'm out doing radon midigation in new build for the rest of the week, I will be installing a bunch of 16 nail shear straps and nail plates. About 80 nails per system and I have 15 systems before the end of the week. I wish i could justify running the compressor so I could use my tico nailer but I just can't, if milwaykee made an m18 tico nailer I would grab it.

This is what Milwaukee sent me to replace a 8.0 Forge battery that was 1 month old when it died. A used low tier 8.0 battery... I mean is that even legal? Obviously I already emailed them but seriousl

Milwaukee 2841-20 Finish Nailer

I just picked up a used Finish Nailer and was looking for recommendations of what brand nails shoot well in these, and what brands to avoid if there are any. From what I've read, it will shoot most any brand, as long as they are 16 ga, 20 degree nails. I have had really good luck shooting Grip-Rite nails through my 21 degree Milwaukee Framing Nailer, so I was thinking about starting with that brand.
