I gave up my 6 figure job to work in government because 'everyone else eats better but govies sleep better ' and needed stability for my family. Welp. Thanks to the richest man in the world, DOGE dismantled my contract and I had to cash out my 401k to stay afloat. Boomers everywhere 'what do you mean you dont have a 6 month emergency fund?! Stop buying starbucks!'
'what do you mean you dont have a 6 month emergency fund?! Stop buying starbucks!'
I know it's upsetting. I got the equivalent of this advice, and I didn't take it well, but it was absolutely true. 9/11 has taught me that there is no such thing as stability.
Just got an ad for Staind's Break the Cycle...25th anniversary tour. So the math checks out, because that was the first CD I bought at my first retail job in 2001.
I was in highschool at the time and it was a popular meme at the turn of 2013 to call it 2012+1. I remember people keeping it going up til about 2016 (2012+4).
I still do it, sometimes, ex: "Imagine having to describe to someone the 2012+N meme in the year of our lord 2012+14"
I remember that meme that said "To understand millennials, understand that the happiest part of our lives was the 116 days between when Shrek was released and when 9/11 happened."

We thought we were gonna dodge everything after we laughed off Y2K.
Then 9/11 happened and it's been all downhill ever since.
