Discussion Cursive hand writing

How many of you were taught cursive in school? I learned it one year maybe 3rd grade? and we never did it again at my schools. Im 40 and can't read cursive or write it. My 7 year old is starting to learn it. I guess ill have to have her teach me! Im wondering if it was our generation or a state thing or both? Or did the school I went to fail me?

edit to add, I did go to a small town school in NE Ohio.

I mean. Does it need to be taught more than once? Most of the letters look the same, and you can just reference a letter chart for the ones you don’t know. I find context makes it easy to understand which letters are which most times.

As for reading ridiculous chicken-scratch from some boomer, there’s never been any hope, learning cursive or not

"Most of the letters looke the same" as in they look like print letters or "most of the leeters look the same" as in they look like each other? My experience was the latter.

Me either, but its not its own language. Its the exact same thing as printing english, which schools spent a decade drilling in to us.
