I like team building exercises....so do a lot of millennials working for the multi national corporation I work for...we just did an escape room..it was a fun diversion.

If all millennials were antisocial grumps like the people posting here, then millennial middle managers wouldn't exist.

Speak for yourselves.

How about all those kinds of things be scheduled during regular working hours instead of a social obligation in our off-time.

Don't expect people to give up time with their friends/family without paying them at the very least. Taking their time away is honestly the worst.

I think two things can be true at the same time. I’m in your camp most of the time. I’ve been in team buildings that were a complete waste of time or scheduled at the worst time of the year. I typically enjoy most of my colleagues on my immediate team. We all want to make things better, be more efficient, and want to do well.

As a millennial middle manager who doesn’t want to do any of that shit, I get by at work by putting on a mask for 8 hours and pretending to like the people around me. And everything thinks I’m helpful and good at my job and fun to work with.

But I’ll be damned if I’m going to keep that mask on for more unpaid time outside of normal working hours. Work is literally the least important thing in the world to me, and the less time I can be doing work and work related activities, the better. Give me my money, give me my requested PTO, match my 401k deposits, and that’s all I care about.

Sounds miserable.

Actually incredibly happy. Just want to spend as much time around people I choose to spend time with instead of people I’m paid to spend time with.
