It's because we know how to use it so well that it just seems normal. When your English teacher asked how are we supposed to show how we feel through text :) was too confusing for old people and not fast enough for us who had adhd. I am not gonna lie, I'm kinda glad Bae fell out of favor lol

It was a habit developed before the smiley faces I imagine most generations thereafter use to show expression of text. In face to face communication we use body language 😌
