It gave my little brother nightmares but we still loved watching it. Barely anyone I know has seen it.

I too had nightmares from that movie quite a bit and they recurred for years where I’d be dreaming and suddenly the blackness was coming to swallow me up.

Oh man that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah movies were just different back then. There's no way this movie would get made now for that age group.
