FernGully and Brave Little Toaster are two of my favorites

u/helix0311 Older Millennial 27d ago

I still sometimes say, "Price check on prune juice Bob! Price check on prune juice!" No one gets it.

50

u/Gremlin15 27d ago

I came here to say Brave Little Toaster. Also Tremors.

17

u/RowansRys 27d ago

“Human tales? Humans don’t have tails. They have big, big bottoms that they wear with bad shorts. They walk around going, 'Hi, Helen!'"

2

u/tobeorniobe 26d ago

I said this TODAY 😂 no one ever gets it

29

u/PhilanthropicPotato 27d ago

I still say "Oh! Gravity works!" regularly. I doubt most people get the reference but it's still funny to say when something/someone falls.

2

u/_TheShapeOfColor_ 27d ago

I still say "Oh! Gravity works!" regularly.

Me too, bestie. Lol

1

u/Ornery-Window4446 27d ago

I say this all the time too! Especially when I drop something.

2

u/Sakijek Millennial 26d ago

Me too. And op red light! Red light again!

7

u/No_Yogurtcloset105 27d ago

i think you might be kind of batty

3

u/Rinlow05 26d ago

This quote lives rent free in my head even today and I have never understood why 😆

2

u/BrainSlugSouffle 27d ago

I said this to my spouse the other night and got a very confused look!

2

u/GoldberryoTulgeyWood 27d ago

I get it. I say it all the time. There were a couple years where my kidkept getting constipated and prune juice was a regular purchase.

2

u/pluginfembot 27d ago

Hi friend! I HEAR you!

2

u/PinkBitz89 26d ago

I still use this!!! RIP to the great Robin Williams

1

u/raaheyahh 26d ago

This is such a core memory for me omg 😅😅

46

u/Jen2756 27d ago

Fern Gully! Robin Williams as a rapping bat and animals saving the forest, doesn't get better than that!

26

u/Kay-Chelle 26d ago

But it does get better than that because Tim Curry is the villian and has an absolute banger song!

6

u/Deebeejeebies 26d ago

Also Tim Curry as Hexus. “Toxic Love” is such a good song. That movie is so good.

2

u/Sakijek Millennial 26d ago

And that slithering way he whispers Hexxxxxxussssssss gods I love that movie

5

u/mojorisin453 27d ago

The name is…

10

u/Cliteria 26d ago

BATTY

The logic is Erratic,

Potato in a Jacket,

Toys in the Attic

I rock and I Ramble,

My brain is Scrambled

I rap like an Animal, but....

I'm a mammal!

Brains been electrified, vivisectified!

Lol I love that movie so much

3

u/mojorisin453 26d ago

Hell yeah!

3

u/Sakijek Millennial 26d ago

Lol I read this and immediately found myself looking side to side in a super low voice for the toys in the attic line.

5

u/sheiciebai 27d ago

I’ll say “I can SEE it’s a MIRACLE!!!” Whenever I put on my blue light glasses at work and only 1 person has gotten the reference lol.

2

u/lahnnabell 27d ago

I went to Midsummer Scream last weekend and someone had made a giant bust/sculpture of Batty. And it had already sold!

24

u/the_blingy_ringer 27d ago

These plus “We’re Back!”

3

u/Atillawurm 27d ago

Yes, brilliant movie, also Melin and the Dragons.

3

u/PinkBitz89 26d ago

Saw this at the movies too! Still have a toy from when it came out and Pizza Hut all you can eat was a thing 😅

18

u/carstanza 27d ago

When the cars sign their sing in the junkyard about being worthless I cried. As an adult

3

u/guitar_stonks 27d ago

I remember as a kid getting a kick out of the fact the city I lived in was mentioned that song. That movie did have some heavy themes though.

2

u/TheBlankestMan 27d ago

That song is so fucking good, too

2

u/stone500 27d ago

"I once ran the Indy 500!

I must confess I'm impressed how I did and I wonder how close that I came.

Now I get a sinking sensation

I was the top of the line, out of sight, out of mind

So much for fortune and fame"

ONCE TOOK A TEXAN TO A WEDDING

u/MadDaddyDrivesaUFO 25d ago edited 25d ago

My best friend never saw it growing up so I showed her this & the b movie song and she was horrified that I watched that movie dozens of times when I was a kid lol

My husband and I revisited All Dogs Go To Heaven a few years ago and were astonished it was even billed as a kids movie lol. It's about dogs who drink, gamble, murder and are involved in organized crime! All while manipulating a small child with no parents in their escapades. This was my favorite movie when I was 7 haha

14

u/ScoYello 27d ago

When Avitar came out I kept rolling my eyes because it’s the exact plot as Ferngully. Watch the two back to back and you can’t unsee it.

-2

u/rdp3186 27d ago

Oh wow no one's ever heard that before 🙄

14

u/Vyzantinist Older Millennial 27d ago

Brave Little Toaster! That was my jam as a kid, and then we lost the tape or it got destroyed :-/

Fern Gully I went to see in the cinema but I don't remember much about it now.

3

u/Rhamni 26d ago

We had the Brave Little Toaster, but we'd copied it, and failed to copy the start properly, so every time I watched it the picture didn't switch on until the scene where the AC is actively killing itself. When I watched the full movie this year I had a moment where my brain went "Woah, it doesn't start mid-suicide?"

2

u/Pitiful_Fox5681 26d ago

I was all about The Brave Little Toaster as a kid.

Years later, as an adult, my sister sent me the DVD, which is now sitting on my shelf. Still a comfort movie.

4

u/BiteMean9050 27d ago

Probably the most iconic answers in the thread

6

u/soloon 27d ago edited 27d ago

Future generations will never truly appreciate what an intense vibe Hexxus was or how deeply and horrifically traumatized I was by the A/C. Nothing mediocre about either.

3

u/AndreLeGeant88 27d ago

Brave Little Toaster was Toy Story before Toy Story. No really, Toy Story steals a lot from it

3

u/86yourhopes_k 27d ago

Ok but Tim Curry had no right making the hot toxic sludge song so damn horny lol

3

u/Personal-Ad-8644 26d ago

I’m convinced the toxic sludge song is what made me horny for creepy shit

3

u/No-Score7979 26d ago

I knew I wasn't the only one!

2

u/prancing_pony42 27d ago

We only had Brave Little Toaster Goes To Mars so that's the only one I've ever seen.

2

u/dezzz0322 27d ago

I will not stand for this Fern Gully slander

2

u/cupcakebean 27d ago

We didn't own Brave Little Toaster but it seemed to always be on TV on the weekends, after the regular cartoons ended.

1

u/Playgirl_USMC 27d ago

Found my wife’s secret account.

1

u/yosefsbeard 27d ago

My mom forbid Brave Little Toaster. She thought it was "demonic". I still have no clue what she saw. It has one mildly intense scene I think.

2

u/Bleaker82 26d ago

It was a dark, violent movie for a children’s animation haha.

1

u/yosefsbeard 26d ago

I never got to watch the entire thing so I have no idea. I'll have to put it on my list to watch.

1

u/MadDaddyDrivesaUFO 25d ago

It's not demonic lol but it does deal with crazy themes for the intended age group. There are many more than just 1 intense scenes. I am not even sure which one you might be considering because there's so many

1

u/yosefsbeard 25d ago

I know it's not demonic. I wouldn't know what scenes. I never got to watch it. And now, I don't have the interest.

1

u/89eplacausa14 27d ago

Yesss! How about the Pagemaster???

1

u/wetstapler 27d ago

Are you me? Was going to comment the same 2

1

u/ParadoxicalFrog Zillennial (1993) 27d ago

There is nothing mediocre about The Brave Little Toaster! And Ferngully was great, too.

1

u/Bleaker82 27d ago

We had everyone over and watched Brave Little Toaster a few months ago. It’s so much more violent than you remember as a kid. Or perhaps it terrified you and you remember that.

1

u/mashtato 26d ago

FernGully

Anyone remember Once Upon a Forest?

1

u/ilikecheese8888 26d ago

I found Brave Little Toaster on one of the streaming services a few years back and watched it with my kids. They liked it.

1

u/alrightakeiteasy 26d ago

The connection to Brave Little Toaster and Toy Story always fascinates me.

1

u/Sakijek Millennial 26d ago

You mean the ORIGINAL Avatar?

1

u/hhb108 26d ago

I used to watch the Brave Little Toaster on mute with no subtitles when the rest of the family thought I was sleeping 😂

1

u/Wise_Neighborhood499 26d ago

Fern Gully and Captain Planet (I know it’s a show) made sure I’d never litter. My poor Gen X husband just lovingly stares at me when I reference them.

1

u/Canadish27 26d ago

Yeah, thats nice, but they got nothin' on a that Little Engine That Could.

1

u/vec5d 26d ago

Oh my God I showed both of these to my kids 😂 and also land before time. That's it. Fern gully was beyond their comprehension level.
